A Lovely Addition to My Backyard
I love this product. I wanted some kind of fountain to keep the water in my birdbath moving (to repel mosquitoes). At first I was concerned that it wouldn't work for my birdbath (about 14" across), because all of the decorative spray tips (which are lovely) sprayed in too large an arc; the water from the birdbath was being sprayed over the sides and onto the ground. But, when I removed the decorative tip and just used the base, it worked great--a gentle flow of water that still looks pretty, causes a gentle movement in the water, and is just loud enough that you can hear it as pleasing background. Perfect.I was also concerned about whether the solar panels would get enough light, as my yard is very shady most of the time. The fountain doesn't run constantly, but turns on and off as it stores enough light to operate. This actually is nicer than it sounds. As I sit on my deck, I will become aware of the water sounds and see that the fountain is operating. It always makes me smile. It runs pretty frequently and for some minutes at a time, considering how dark my yard is.A bonus is that my birdbath stays much cleaner with the moving water.I haven't noticed as many birds at the birdbath as before, but I can't say that there actually are fewer or that, if there are, it's because of the fountain. The device itself isn't especially attractive, but it's not bad-looking either. The small suction cups do adhere to the ceramic birdbath, but they eventually let go; the fountain then floats on the surface. Again, maybe not the most visually attractive, but not bad either. All these are offered more in the way of observation rather than criticisms; any downsides are far outweighed by the pluses.I would definitely buy this product again.

Pretty Happy, with a few adjustments
Several Suggestions below, for owners of this product:I'm pretty happy with this little fountain, specially now that I've made some adjustments. It worked pretty great right out of the box. The different nozzles are nice, although I found I had to slightly modify one, for my purposes. In direct sunlight and with fresh clean wate,r the little pump does a good job and can shoot a stream of water pretty high into the air. Once the pump gets going, I was surprised at how long it continued to run even with very little sunlight. That was the good, now a few issues:1) it's confusing as to when the pump will run or not run. There is no On/Off button, so it's sort of in an ON state all the time, but yet it doesn't constantly pump. It does stop from time to time. It has to be in sunlight, that is a given, but I have had times when the device is in total sunlight and yet it's not pumping. I've found that totally submerging it in water (while being in direct sunlight) will often cause it to turn on. Perhaps there is some type of sensor, that makes it shut of in the absence of water and yet there have been times when it continues to pump even when out of water. A sensor would be good to protect the pump from burning out, if it gets hung up on something or if the water drains out of the bird bath. but I really don't know how this thing works.2) The pump is, of course, very small. As such, it can get clogged very easily. Any particles in the water can quickly clog up the port underneath and the pump will drastically slow down if not stop pumping completely, until the vents are cleanedThose are the two main issues I have had, Now here are some modifications I can suggest:Filter/screen: I've added a screen to the bottom of the device to help keep the pump port free and clear of debris:Flip the device upside down and you will see there is ring of material that keeps the device afloat. This ring of material can be removed rather easily. It simple slides into the bottom of the device. You can easily pull this out of the bottom. I then took some vinyl screen (the same screen used in a screen window, you can get this at any hardware store). Make sure you get the vinyl type, not the metal type. The vinyl is softer and won't rust in the water. You only need a small piece. Maybe and inch wider (all around) than the device itself. Flip the device upside down, lay the piece of screen over the device and then re-insert the ring of flotation material that you removed. This will hold the screen into the bottom of the device and the screen will now help keep the pump ports from getting clogged. Then take a pair of scissors and carefully trim any excess screen that is sticking out around the sides of the device. It doesn't have to be perfectly trimmed it's OK to leave a little extra around the perimeter,it's not going to hurt anything Eventually you'll have to pull the screen and wash it but trust me, I've gone weeks before I've had to totally remove the screen. Without the screen I was having to clean out the pump ports/vents every day. My pump works great with this one modification and will not clog up.The second adjust I made was to a nozzle. I tried all the nozzles and they are nice. However, for my application, I found that the nozzles were all shooting too high and I was losing water out of the bird bath. This meant I had to keep a close eye on the water level. So I got my drill and my smallest bits and found a bit that was just a bit bigger than the holes in one of the nozzles. what I did was kept sliding the drill bits (smallest first) by hand, until I found the one that just barely slid into the center hold of the nozzle. Then I selected the next bigger bit (1/16 inch bigger). Then I used this bit to open the center hole a little more on the nozzle I decided to use. Do yourself a favor and only drill out one hole on the nozzle, then test the fountain. If the fountain is still shooting too high, you have two options: Drill out a second hole on the nozzle or get the next bigger bit (again only move up 1/16 of an inch) and drill out the center hole again. This lowered the pressure and made it so the water was not shooting out of the bird bath, when I use the modified nozzle.the last issue I wanted to deal with, was the fact that I have my device floating. The device has suction cups, where it looks like you can maybe stick it to the bottom of the birdbath to prevent it from moving around, but I didn't want to do this because I think being under water interferes with the solar working at it's best. However, with the device floating, even the slightest of winds will push the device to a side or corner and then you have an issue with water being sprayed out of the bird bath and draining away quickly. Right now I am using some small pieces of brick to pin the device in the middle of the bird bath.I am trying to come up with something that has four or more posts, which I could put in the water, with the posts sticking up out of the water. I would then put the fountain in the middle and the posts would prevent the floating device from moving too far to any given side. The distance between any of the posts would, of course, have to be less that the diameter of the device and the posts would have to be tall enough to reach the top of the water when the bird bath was totally full. I'm still working on how to create this. I would like to do it in plastic but I'm not a good fabricator.

Do not hesitate to buy
I'm a huge bird watching fan. I got this affordable fountain for my bird bath and I have to say that I'm impressed so far. I have a semi-shaded yard with many nut trees, one massive oak, and several brazilian pepper trees( birds have a hard time choosing between my feeders and the brazilian pepper trees lol), in sunny temperate Northern Florida. This fountain somehow manages to work all day long and I've seen it working before the sun rises completely( What?... Oh yeah). Very very strong pump so the stream will be very high possibly making you lose water from your bath and damaging the pump by burning it (only downside i see, but easy to fix). I fixed the issue by drilling bigger holes on the stream attachment to reduce stream pressure and increase water flow, and it works beautifully now without spilling water out of the bath. Make sure to find a way to keep it from moving around since it's very light and it floats( I used 3 medium size river rocks in a triangle position to prevent it from navigating to the edges and spilling my water out). I had 3 other fountains before and none comes even close to this in performance and value. I must add that fountains in bid baths attract more birds since running water calls their attention making your water feature a centerpiecefor bird. I even get Crows to land for a drink lol. Highly recommended. I will buy again in a heartbeat. Hope my review is helpful and remember to use my two suggestions if you want to be worry free after. Happy Birding!

Too big for a bird bath
The pump worked almost too well. The water shot up 15-18 inches, but the spray was so wide that the water did not fall back into the bird bath. In a few minutes, it had drained the bird bath of water. Changing the nozzle did not help. I tried it on 2 different bird baths, one round, one oval and had the same experience both times. Would guess this pump is really designed for a pool, but that was not clear in the description.
