Great read!!
What a ride! Alex is an amazing MC. She’s feisty, brave, & determined. She also meets many other amazing characters along the adventure, & makes an amazing best friend named Benn. I also loved Nella & Howard the donkey! Zerra was HORRIBLE! I couldn’t stand her. She was written for you to despise her, & boy was she written well! LolPOVs sometimes alternate b/n a few different characters, but the main one is Alex, & then I’d say Danny & Hagos had quite a few. I loved the friendship that grew b/n Danny & Hagos. Alex & Ben helped each other b/c Benn was Alex’s first real friend, someone she could count on. Alex helped Benn get out of the rut he was in, take chances & have adventures. Danny helped Hagos with getting up & fighting back. Helping him find what he was looking for, helping his people skills, & also giving him the first real friend he had had in over a decade. Someone he could finally trust. Hagos helped Danny feel like he finally had a purpose that made sense, & that he could actually help & be good at. He helped give him the self confidence he was lacking. The world building was amazing. You see one part of it, & then you venture out into different parts, & everything comes together to make sense of the backstory you’re being told. So creative! I especially loved the hauntings, & all the different types. I read this pretty much in one sitting, so I definitely loved it. However, I found myself frustrated often because of all the missed connections. It would have been fine a couple times, but it kept happening! I was annoyed! Lol Hopefully there won’t be as many in book 2. Either way, I loved this & highly recommend! STUNNING cover by Justin Hernandez too!💜

If Angie Sage has ever written a bad book, I have never read it!
I was delighted to discover a new series. The book had a few slow moments but they were like a boulder slowly gaining speed as it careened down hill. I loved the story and l will not so patiently await its sequel!

Swapped pages during printing otherwise a good read!
My daughter just finished the book and she said that there were two pages that were switched during printing.. otherwise she loved the book. Couldn’t remember exact pages. Somewhere around 200-220.

Another wonderful story by Angie Sage
I'll start by saying I'm an adult who enjoys reading YA fantasy books. I am also a huge fan of Angie Sage's Septimus Heap series. (If you haven't read it, I do highly recommend it!)Enchanter's Child is a great beginning to a new series. It's filled with fresh new characters and magical situations to keep readers of all ages engaged.Alex, the main character, was given away by her parents at a very young age. This story picks up as she begins to discover who she is and what she is capable of. She meets engaging (and not so engaging) people along the way and I definitely look forward to continuing her story with the next book. This is great reading for the whole family as there is no violence or bad language. The only caution I will give is that it ends with a cliffhanger. While this doesn't bother me, it is something to keep in mind if you are reading with young children and they want a conclusion at the end of the story. They will have to wait for the next book... or two or three.

For adults and youth
The book is written to interest youth but as an adult, I really enjoyed it. It is similar to her other series. I am excited to read the whole series.

A good read!
An enjoyable read from Angie Sage. I will look forward to the next one. I saw some similarities to the Magyk series (horrid sibling, aunt zelda type character, given away as baby storyline) but it was lovely in the sense of revisiting an old friend. Sage writes really well and this is a comfortable way to spend a few hours immersed in this magical world. This book had a timely release in the sense of lockdown and I enjoyed it immensely. The only thing I didn't really like was the personality of the main character.Others may disagree but I found her really bratty (always feeling abandoned, jealous etc. This contradicts with other instances in the book which show she is also wise and independent and loyal). A lot of this behaviour is understandable but I feel that older readers may find this a bit frustrating. For this reason I give this 3.5 stars (rounded it up to 4)I think I would read the next in this series but won't be eagerly anticipating it like I did the Magyk books.

Strange looking book
I just received this book today but.... it looks strange! The pages are quite dark looking and the cover is thin and the lettering is flat and not embossed like new books are.Has anybody received a book like this?
