New Canadian police procedurals?
Not a bad book by a new Canadian writer. A new detective appropriately irresistible to youngish ladies.Written in a 'classical' styles with several potential villains but settling on an unexpected one, not a butler. Dramatic climax with a raging storm overhead. No discernible social issues in the book - this is Canada, after all.The author does not seem to be too old and prefers the Anglophones unlike a more established Ms. Penny from Quebec who created a special location for some ten plus somewhat similar books with an equal opportunity for Anglophones and Francophones alike.Three stars, recommended to people who like somewhat convoluted stories and Canada like this reader...

Thoroughly enjoyed reading Thin Ice...
A very good crime story....plenty of reasonable and well developed suspects but no sure bet until the end....would make a good movie. I will look for more from this author!
