I wanted iodized salt bc it is often not in salt you buy in stores, it is needed in trace amts...especially if you have thyroid issues or on thyroid meds, but iodine is needed by everyone. That being said, this is imported from Italy. One box is very coarse (good for adding to pasta water, or adding to salt grinders), another if fine grind, the other one is ultrafine. I am a salt snob, I don't overuse it, but salt is needed to enhance the flavor of any and all foods...and since I like to cook, I use salt all the time to cook and season. I like pure salt, not junk salt that I would use to remove ice from my steps in winter! Each box is 2.2 lbs, so for $22 for 3 boxes, it's over 6 lbs of salt. I think that is a fair price for high-quality salt. I am pleased. The box that the salt is contained in tends to leak a bit of salt where the fold creases at bottom of box; so I put each box inside a quart-size ziplock baggie just in case to catch the little fallout. That is the only problem, but maybe that is not unique and tends to occur with boxed salt. Just sayin'...to me, a small problem I can live with.
