DK Eyewitness Kenya (Travel Guide)

I bought this book to help me plan my trip to Kenya and it did exactly that. I appreciated the simple overviews to help me quickly identify the spot most important to me, then being able to read more in depth descriptions once I had narrowed down my goals. The sample itineraries are quite helpful and the pictures are beautiful.

The book itself was very informative and came with wonderful illustrations. It will be very useful for a trip I will be taking in the near future. I've never been much of a complainer, but the only problem I had with this purchase was the packaging. I ordered three of these books, which are pretty heavy and they were placed loosely in the box. Two of the books, which were intended as gifts, arrived in decent condition, but the third book, which I kept as my own, arrived with a corner very damaged. The damage was either the direct result of the treatment of the box by the mail carrier or it was damaged by the supplier. If it was damaged by the mail carrier, the extent of the damage could have been eliminated by more careful packaging. I still gave the item a five star rating because the book itself was very good.

Beautiful travel guide with descriptions and photos of the various regions and animals of Kenya. I tend to not rely on travel guides for restaurant and hotel information due to more current info online. But this guided was fun to read during the 26 hour trip to Kenya from the United States.

Excellent book with lovely pictures & explanations! Even the locals were surprised about all the places i knew in just a 12 day trip. A salesman in Mombasa wanted to buy that book from me! A must have for anyone visiting Kenya, even for a few days. The dictionary at the end is very useful. Locals love it when you speak their language, that's an add on to bargaining as well!Add this book to "The essential guide to customs & culture of Kenya" to know the local people's traditions, background, what to do when meeting new people & most importantly to expand your awareness about our fellow brothers & sisters inhabiting this planet.Karibu Nyumbani (-:

Was very good--but wished it had more camps and details--that is what I bought it for. Not to talk of general history and habitats or animals.If it is your only and first book about Kenya safaris--then might be okay.I was looking more of Travel Guide across Kenya with specific recommendations of camp by camp by reserves or areas.For what it does--it is good.Just to general and not specific for me.

I purchased this book in preparation for my trip to Kenya. This is a wonderful guide especially if you are doing a safari. There is an entire section on wildlife with colorful pictures to help you identify the animals that you find during your trip. The book itself is well narrated, detailed, and easy to read and follow. I highly recommend this book to anyone traveling to Kenya!

I was looking for a good general guidebook on Kenya to take on Safari, this seems to fit the bill exactly - lots of good general information and pictures for a variety of areas as we will be travelling around, and also includes a small 'Field Guide' section. Some but not too much information on where to stay, eat etc, but this is good in my opinion as we are going on a tour and all accommodation and most food is included (also that's what TripAdvisor is for these days!). Book was printed / revised in 2015 so it also appears to be relatively up to date as well.
