A brilliantly evocative book of a time and place most os us know little about
This book is written by a totally sympathetic and intelligent author who has managed to create a picture, with great feeling, of what it was like growing up as a white South African during the 1950's. Every page is utterly readable and sensitive as to what childhood and adolescence is about - but in his case - in unique circumstances. He uses an unsparing eye that scans with intelligence, humour and amused empathy, in a way that leaves the reader feeling emotionally richer and better informed.
