Great design book
Wonderful content coverage of a broad spectrum of key design topics and influences. Very compact, great examples and well succinctly written. Only wish was that the type wasn’t so small to read.

what a welcome addition!
This is the rare new book about design history that delivers more than it promises. It functions as a useful overview of the history of design, but avoids repeating what you can find in existing books by presenting the information in a new and extremely useful format. Instead of being a compendium of designers or a collection of important designs, it offer a history of the themes, concepts, and challenges that design has taken on. In the process, all of the designers and objects usually discussed in an historical overview are neatly woven in. As with all of the Fiell's books, the writing is essential and engaging, the pictures are well chosen and beautifully presented, and the price is well below the value. 100 Ideas is mostly a history of industrial and graphic design; fashion is not included. This is not a flaw, just something worth knowing to match the book to expectations. An excellent book as a gift, as a text book, as an introduction, or as a refinement to existing understandings of the field.
