The nutrition recommend by our vet, in a flavor that the cat likes.
While our daughter is serving overseas in the Marine Corps, we had to rescue her cat from her "friends" who had promised to take care of him in her absence, but had not done so very well. They had been feeding him poor quality dry food and ignoring him, so he’d gained quite a bit of weight. After I brought him to our house, I took him to the veterinarian who has cared for all of our pets for more than ten years, and in whom we have absolute trust and confidence. She explained to me the many negative ways in which dry food impacts feline health, and encouraged us to beginning shifting him off "kitty crack" (as the vets call it) and onto a moist diet. She said that not all canned food is created equal. Cats need high protein, low carb diets (Catkins Diet?). No cereal-loaded "gravy" and no seafood. She recommended the Fancy Feast classics, which are just that, and said she buys a specific combo pack for her cats. She suggested the Fancy Feast Classic Beef and Poultry variety pack that she gets at the local Target store for her cats.I found it at a good price on Amazon, and I've been buying that. It has the chicken flavor (same as this 12-pack), the turkey and giblets, and beef. I began to notice that he will eat nearly the whole can of the chicken or the turkey, but he barely touches the beef. I had a hard time finding just the chicken or turkey flavors alone - either at the store or on Amazon. I finally found a reasonable price for a 12-pack of the chicken, and a 12-pack of the turkey, so I'll now be able to offer him just the flavors he likes and stop wasting the beef.I like that all the Fancy Feast canned food I've bought so far comes packaged in a compact and easy-to-open box. I can keep the food in a corner of the kitchen counter, and the cans don't get scattered about. He has lost much of his excess weight, his energy level is up, and he seems to be a happier and healthier cat.

The Classic line of flavors is grain free and very low carb
The Fancy Feast Classic Feast line is one of the only reasonably priced, easy to find cat foods that is very low carb. It's a good choice for diabetic cats, overweight cats, and lots of cats with IBD and other digestive issues, since those problems are often caused by the presence of too much starch and grain in commercial food for an animal that is an obligate carnivore and hasn't evolved to consume much in the way of carbohydrates. It's not an all-natural food or anything, since it has a lot of the standard additives that go into canned commercial food, so it's not a silver bullet for cats with certain sensitivities and allergies, but it's better than those awful veterinary diets for a lot of common health problems. It's a good deal here on Amazon if you buy single flavors (the variety pack is much pricier than in the store, though). The turkey and giblets is one of my cats' favorite flavors. If you can't afford the fancy specialty no-grain/low carb diets in the gourmet pet stores and don't have the time to make your own cat food, Fancy Feast Classic Feast flavors (ONLY the Classic flavors--the others have wheat and rice in them!) are an excellent compromise.

Life-saving for diabetic cats!
Like many other reviewers, this FF Classic is like gold to me. My cat has almost died twice from diabetes (ketoacidosis) and I figured out it was the expensive, prescription diabetic cat food that he was eating that made and kept him sick. Once I took him off that junk and put him on a strict diet of only this food, his levels went back to normal and he hasn't needed insulin since. A good-hearted vet told me about Fancy Feast Classic when she could have recommended her office's product, so that persuaded me even further. Just remember this: if you want to give your diabetic cat this food, it must be the Fancy Feast CLASSIC. Only the CLASSIC version flavors are low enough in carbs to be good for diabetic cats.

This cat food is one of the very few my cats will eat.
My cats will eat it. Expensive, but it is worth it.

Kitties love it!
So like most cat owners I have the world's pickiest cats. I have had many people try the whole "oh just give them anything and they'll eat if they're hungry!" As a cat owner for many years now, I can tell you that is a lie because my two cats will not eat just anything even if they are hungry. So with that out of the way, I recommend this canned food for cats all the time. It is one of two my cats can actually eat that doesn't give them a stomach ache. It doesn't smell great at all, but it is good for kitties with sensitive stomachs!

A favorite at our house!
A 3 oz can is actually quite tiny, but it's the perfect size for my mini-dachshund, Miss Megan. I shouldn't admit this, but I purchase this - not for cats - but for my little dog. Turkey is turkey is turkey I guess - whether it be for cats or for dogs. I purchase this from Amazon while on sale, and mix 1/2 can with her dry IAMS dog food, and she loves it - just enough gravy & small slices of turkey to cover all the dry dog food nuggets.....which she would NOT consume without the canned food! Finicky little Princess that she is...
