Excellent!!
Beautiful book inside with colored pages. All the pages are pretty light golden tone with the colored pics of food and the ranch. Step by step instructions with pics! Food recipes are things most people will cook, not weird stuff. I bought used very good for six and change and its like new. Very pleased with all her books but this is the prettiest and best cookbook I own!

Colorful Humor & Photographs, Exceptional Recipes
This is my favorite cookbook! I actually checked it out online from my local library first but I loved it so much that I bought it, which should tell you how good it is. I've made at least half a dozen recipes from the cookbook already and everything has been delicious (with the exception of the vodka pasta, but that could have been something wrong on my part). One of the best features of the cookbook are the step-by-step color photographs that accompany each recipe. It really helps you to feel confident that you're doing everything right. The recipes aren't complicated though. I also love how Ree talks to the reader the whole time; it's like you're in the kitchen with her cooking together. She shares stories and pictures of her family but it's her sense of humor that really connects her with the reader and made this cookbook feel so special. Her section on cooking large batches of food that can be frozen and used in multiple recipes is especially helpful no matter what size your family is. I had knee surgery last week and before I went in I used her freezer meal chapter to make three casseroles in disposable foil pans that can be pulled out and baked as needed, as well as two chicken pot pies that are ready to be baked. I've told all of my friends about this cookbook and I cannot recommend it enough.

Great and delicious meals
One of my most used cookbooks, and I've even gifted a few of the Pioneer Woman's cookbooks to my daughter. Every recipe I've tried has been a winner. I keep it handy in the kitchen! Good idea for bridal shower gifts!

I have every one of pioneer woman's cookbooks, I love them! I actually received her first cookbook at my wedding shower. (5 years ago) I was so happy because i stumbled upon her blog before i was married. A lot of the "critical" reviews have been that they are too basic and its everything on her blog.. Sorry guys, but i hate having to get on my computer every time i want a recipe from her, so a book works great for me. I love in this book how she has great ideas for freezer meals and then recipes for them following, LOVE THAT! I hate thinking too much of what i am going to make. So prepping and then having a recipe to follow is great! I also love her list of things she keeps stocked in her house. Its so very helpful since i have two little ones and wal-mart is such a mad house its nice to have a decent list of what to have. I love this book for her ideas of how she does her meals which is so helpful, i love the recipes but truly i think her first book is my fave.. (its actually falling apart, haha.) Still, i would buy nonetheless, because it is pioneer woman!! I love her, butter and all ;)

I expected "beh" I got "WOW"! Surprisingly good book
Beautiful photos, which is a must for my cooking books. I cannot cook unless I have a visual of the end result. This book has plenty of images, including of the preparation steps, and not only of the recipes (not that I need to know what this woman's family or farm look like... but, since she wants to share, that's ok too). Most important, the recipes are very clearly explained and are extremely doable. Nothing fancy. It's a recipe book for "family cooking": I am vegetarian so I have access only to some and not all of the recipes: everything I tried so far came out perfect, no need to make my own "edits" or adjustments, it all worked out very well. I also love that the author (who, my husband just told me, is very famous... I never heard of her, sorry) provides little practical asides with alternatives in case one is missing an ingredient and doesn't feel like riding to the supermarket. I am not American: therefore I love that the author is giving me a chance to learn some "real Americana" stuff, which I usually get to taste only in restaurants and diners. EASY TO USE, EASY TO UNDERSTAND, BEAUTIFULLY ILLUSTRATED, GREAT PRINT QUALITY, REASONABLY PRICED, INTERESTING RECIPES EXPLAINED INTELLIGENTLY ENOUGH TO BE REPRODUCED WITHOUT PROBLEMS. p.s.: Like ALL recipe books published in America, however, this one too has poorly thought-out indexes. But that's the fault of editors and publishing houses.

Lots of inspiration, even for veg folks
I'm eating vegetarian these years, but her cookbooks... maybe it's the pull with the warm family stuff, or the "comfort food" aspect, but while I tear apart used cookbooks by some of the current cooking greats (Ina Loves Jeffrey Who Loves Ina - how beautiful is THAT wonderful relationship in today's America?!) to keep a few recipes in a binder - OK, 1 1/2" binder(s) - OK, nine 1 1/2" binders and need to buy a tenth because it's more than a few recipes, but my house is too tiny for 100 cookbooks - I'm keeping this woman's books whole! WHA??? I can always sub in veggie 'meat-like" (THANK you, non-soy veggie companies!) or just ignore the meat portion of the recipes. (It's not the owning of meat animals, it's the tortured agony America thinks is so nice and cheap that is the killing and processing this country allows, in case you weren't forced to watch those college videos.) (Oh, my husband used to be a on-horseback cowboy for a large cattle ranch... poor guy spent years eating tofu with me, but got his steak on his birthday.) Lots of inspiration from the well-thought-out recipe presentations, and though I get annoyed by real estate agents and dentists sticking their fat faces into every ad and sign, I really find her family photos pleasant. (WHA??? I KNOW! What's with this posting person???) Somehow, it all just fits together - I really don't think she's bragging; it seems like she's sharing! T'would be wonderful if she did create a vegetarian cookbook since she was one at one point in her life. It doesn't have to be "anti-" - just fun without the meat!

Perfect Book for Busy Families with Gorgeous Step By Step Photos and a Variety of Recipes
This cookbook focuses on dinnertime meals. Well organized and filled with recipes for a wide variety of tastes, this book is good for cooks at any level. This book is simply beautiful. Filled with colorful and informative photos (there is a picture for every recipe), this book not only is great to look at but also gives good information for those of us who are competent but not particularly instinctive when it comes to cooking. I especially like the step by step photos so that I can get an idea of what the dish should look at while I am cooking it instead of just hoping it turns out like the finished product. This book is organized by type of meal. With categories such as comfort food, soup for dinner, salad for dinner, breakfast for dinner, the book gives the reader a sense of the different possibilities for meals. There is also several sections on different types of side dishes and even desserts so readers can mix and match main dishes with the sides and desserts they like to make a complete meal. I was especially pleased with the section on freezer meals. While basic and certainly not an attempt to be a treatise on the subject, this section gives readers the opportunity to prepare staples to keep frozen and then provides several different ways that those frozen staples can be used to make different meals. For example, the book provides a recipe for meatballs that can be frozen and then gives recipes for their use in sweet and sour meatballs, Swedish meatballs, etc. This section and the section on quick preparation meals are especially good for busy people who don't have hours to spend in the kitchen to prepare a dinner. This book also has a great variety of recipes. There are recipes that are basic (especially good for picky eaters), meat and potatoes type recipes and then also recipes for more adventurous eaters. I appreciated the variety of recipes because nothing annoys me more than cooking books that are only for gourmet eaters. Although titled Dinnertime, this book has such a great variety of recipes that they can be used all day long.

Mala encuadernación
El libro está muy mal enmaquetado, por lo que lo devuelvo. Las recetas son muy calóricas, típicas americanas, aunque supongo que para alguna fiesta seguro que pueden ir muy bien.

Colourful, wonderful, easy.
The book itself is colourful, not only the recipes. Full of wonderful photos by Ree Drummond with funny captions. Each recipe is introduced by the writer. When I first got it, I only read these, it is like reading a book, Ree is clever and funny (check out her blog or watch on Food Network). The recipes are undeniably American (tex-mex mainly) in taste and sized for a big family and calorific (they are a very active family) but the ingredients are common enough to be easily obtained in the UK and I can always choose to substitute the ingredients for lighter versions. The mesurements are given consistently in cups and spoons, however, there is a conversion table at the end of the book. Unlike some other cookery books, this one has got photos and descriptions of every step of every recipe which makes them really easy to follow. Also, with every recipe, Ree offers tips for making ahead and for variations. I genuinly believe that ideas in chapters like Freezer Food, 16-Minute Meals or Pasta Pronto might make the life of really busy families easier.

I really like this book
I really like this book. The steps are clear, the pictures are great, and the selection of recipes covers most items you would want to make your family for dinner. I've tried a couple of the recipes and they worked out well and tasted great. Gave one of my sisters a copy as a birthday present, and the other sister looked through it at the party and asked for her own for Christmas.
