If you are looking for something to replace that beef jerky fix only one flavor can do such a thing and that is the Hickory Smoke. I did a taste test between all of them with my mom and wife to get their input and this is what we came up withThai Peanut: Very weird taste to it, nothing like a thai peanut flavor. Not salty at all but the taste is so bad you wont finish chewingHot & Spicy: Looks weird, extremely soft but no taste to it as well. Didn't taste spicy, no flavor to it. The best way I can describe it is like an off brand mild slim jimMesquite Lime: It was meh, extremely tough with a limish (if thats even a word) after taste. Even chewing provided no flavor sensation and this left me disappointed due to the amount of people liking that flavorTexas BBQ: Very disappointed, this one had so much potential yet fell so short. That first bite provides you with a small amount of flavor, not to chewy but after that first bite literally no flavor, just chewing soy.Hickory Smoked: We all loved this flavor, the flavor was on point with every single bite! Not to chewy, not to soft, just right. It makes me sad all the other flavors don't pack a punch like this one

Security pulled my bag aside and dug out the jerky. I packed the entire case, so it probably looked weird on the scanner. Security chuckled and let it pass. Even though each package is packed in thick, vacuum packed, packaging, you can still pick up a faint smell of the delicious jerky inside. The scent did not make anything in my luggage smell like jerky. The jerky is a bit difficult to open, as the packaging is pretty sturdy. There are two pre-cut tear areas that are meant for the consumer to pull down vertically to open, but if you have weak hands or recovering from shoulder surgery or something, or are a little kid, you might want scissors or a helpful friend. Good source of protein, especially if you are not wanting a sweet energy bar. And no worries about it 'melting' in the heat like some energy bars with coatings.

This product is wonderful, and I urge you to ignore the negativity. I have come to realize that miserable people just need the company! This product is very sweet, as teriyaki is supposed to be. It has a nice "meaty" texture and taste. As a vegan for moral reasons, it is hard to find tasty, affordable vegan products with respectable ingredients, so I am GRATEFUL that this company has met all three criteria. And I will be back to try other flavors!

I don’t know how many boxes of this vegan jerky I’ve been through since discovering it this year. I initially started with a variety assortment, and now go straight for the Thai peanut flavor. I love how much protein this product packs into a tasty, portable snack. I eat these at home, but they are also perfect to keep at work, or in my purse. I will say that there is some inconsistency between batches. These can vary between soft and bland, to quite chewy and very flavorful and various degrees between. It isn’t a deal breaker for me, but is exciting when I get a “good one”. Kind of like an extra juicy piece of fruit, YKWIM? I can see some people not being a fan if they get a bland box their first order, which is unfortunate.

I can't convey how much I disliked the flavor of these. I've tried most of the flavors they make except one that contains an ingredient I'm allergic too, so I felt confident in ordering a new flavor in quantity even though I had never smoked it in any of the variety packs. It tasted so bad, I literally could not force myself to finish the one I had opened. I missed the return window, so I'm stuck with a case of inedible vegan jerky that I paid through the nose for because I live in a rural area where you can't get anything healthy let alone vegan at the grocery store except in the produce section. (And the produce is all questionably sourced, so whether that's healthy is a matter of debate.)The closest I can come to describing the taste is that it reminded me of tomato mixed with ... Windex? I've never tasted Windex, but that's my best guess. And for three scientifically minded reader, let me just note, I don't know if there's cilantro in these, but even if so, I'm not a soap taster with cilantro and that was even confirmed in my genetic testing. So there's no excuse for these to taste like a cleaning product. Yuck!I do, however, want to emphasize that I will continue buying other flavors from this brand. The hickory smoked is lovely, the thai is just a little spicy (if you have acid reflux, ulcers, esophageal or duodenal spasm, gastroparesis, or other sensitive tummy issues: beware).It's possible I just got a bad batch, but you couldn't pay me to try these again.

The Teriyaki Primal Strips are made of nearly 100% yummy, healthy wheat gluten and are one of the only vegan meat substitutes I can tolerate well (because I can't eat much soy without having horrid intestinal cramps that feel like being perpetually kicked in the gut by flaming hooves...). So, if you, like me, are soy intolerant and want a great-tasting vegan meat substitute (that hasn't jumped on the stupid "gluten free" hype train), look no further than the Teriyaki primal strips. (If, however, you are one of those who suffer from Celiac's disease or have a wheat allergy, stick to the soy-based primal strips, like the Hickery Smoked ones I can't eat.)

It did take over a month to deliver but apart from that it’s perfect and I want to keep ordering.They taste amazing and the texture is perfect, it doesn’t get stuck in your teeth like other tender vegan jerky’s I’ve tried and it leaves you satisfied and not feel the need to eat more after, even though it’s very delicious.My favourite jerky so far (I’ve tried many different brands). I highly recommend!

I love these bars. As a vegan they give me a nice low calorie snack that is packed full of protein. I love this taste and the chewy wheat protein texture. It may be a bit of an acquired taste but I've been eating them for years and loving it. At just under 100 calories it feels that you're having something a bit more substantial. The hickory smoked is one of my favourite of the 6 different flavours available.

I've tried all of the Primal Spirit strips, they all taste quite reasonable (as vegan jerky goes!), but the Seitan type is easily the nicest texture. Of the two seitan strips they do, the Thai Peanut is more to my taste than the Teriyaki flavour. Certainly a lot better than the shitake mushroom strips, and more pleasing than the soya (though the soya bars are good).

Imagine eating a long dead corpse's flesh only a very delicious corpse with extra BBQ sauce and that is pretty much what this tastes like, very good product and good value for money, the only thing is I bought the retail pack of 24 and need a new flavour before I can finish this one as the flavour is so rich I am getting a bit sickened by it, would buy again as long as one of the other flavours is not better.

These are absolutely great, love the texture and taste, just like the original (softer) meat jerky but without the meat, just tear a bite n chew, not too hard and not too soft.
