Master Music Theory for Guitar in 14 Days: Daily Guitar Theory Lessons (Play Music in 14 Days)

Proud to say I have just completed this whole book! WOW What a journey! I set out to do all of Troy Nelson's 14 Day guitar books except for the beginner how to play guitar one. I began with his 14 Day Fretboard Memorization one which I loved and highly recommend beginning with that, unless you are a beginner than begin with his 14 day beginner guitar book. Next up for me is the Chord Progressions one, then the blues one, then the 2 pentatonic ones, then the jazz one. Hopefully by the time I finish the jazz one, there will be more released. I contacted Troy for the order one should do this series and that was the order he told me.The problem is the title of mastering music theory, which this book does not offer you that. I saw this book as a journey through music theory knowledge-wise as well as playing-wise through all the modes, pentatonic (minor, major and blues) and the final epic diminished chapter. I think this book would have been better sold as a primer to his other books to come that I just mentioned in the previous paragraph, rather than "Master". In that context it did what it set out to do, a journey through important theory for guitarists not mastering.I am not a beginner guitarist and definitely learned and improved in my playing and understanding over the course, but "Master" is a strong word. Being theory heavy, this book is a mix of reading and playing in each practice section, and although you go through scales, chord progressions, transpositions, licks, etc., Troy is trying to drill into your head the concepts more than shredding in every position all over the guitar neck. He usually keeps each day in one position or close to it.The way Troy organizes these 14 day books really resonates well with me and I would either break up each day into two or do it all in one sequence. Usually I would do half of it, take a break and then come back and finish it up. Sometimes it took me 2 days to do a lesson so it took me about 3.5 weeks to complete the book. Glad I did!

This is a great gift for my friend and he loved it. He wanted to book on music theory and I bought it. All I can say is he gave me a thumbs up and said thanks, so that means it’s a good thing and you should probably look into it if you wanna book a music theory, too.

It is not a music theory book really. There are many better learning resources to the topic. Instead, it composes of common guitar scales with related exercises. It may be good for some guitar learners.

I really like the material. It's really to understand. I like the fact that I can do this at my own pace.

I am older person who has had an interest in music for a long time. But when it came to music theory I was very mentally thick minded. Complete brain fog. This cleared it all the way. It just presented everything in a logical manner. The author did not present this info to show off his impressive knowledge. Instead you got the feeling that he really just wanted you to learn. Not overwhelm you. Learn at your own pace.

It is not understandable for me except collection of novel pattern of guitar chord.I must use more and more time to read an excellent pattern with some practice.

It's helping me put things together nicely. Thank you so much.

Lost on in the introduction ! Need a good music foundation to begin. Will stick with it and hope at the end it all comes together.

Great book for complete beginner. I found it very useful as i knew nothing about theory and the book is not too complicated.
