ABOUT MY PURCHASE EXPERIENCE:This show is a treasure and I purchased the dvd set as a gift for myself and my daughters to share and I am NOT disappointed-- the packaging is gorgeous and each dvd in perfect condition. The Seller, MegaMoviesBazaar, initially sent me the wrong dvd (although I was pleasantly surprised that it arrived OVERNIGHT), and he immediately responded to my email and, kindly, quickly replaced it with the correct dvd the next day, no problem.ABOUT THE SHOW:Ahhhh, what can I say?!?! This is perhaps my favorite series of all time. I've always been obsessively fascinated by, and engrossed in, Royal dramas of different cultures: as a child I grew up watching the History Channel when other children were watching cartoons; I loved movies like Lord of the Rings, to learn about Ancient Royals like Cleopatra and Queen of Sheba, studying Royal Families and Dynasties like the Tudor Dynasty and the fascinating saga surrounding the Fall of the Last Russian Czar, Nicolas II. I binge watch shows and series like Shaka Zulu, Camelot, The Tudors, The Borgias, The Crown, and, more recently, Game of Thrones, among others. As you can see, I have a thing for the beauty and trechery that Royal Life entails. THIS SHOW does not disappoint! The ELEGANCE of Ruyi absolutely astounds and inspires me-- her CHARACTER and shrew, intelligent, yet humble comportment is a wonder to behold, as she keeps her head high amidst abundant conspiracies. You simply can't look away and, despite the drama and tension, the show is still soothing to watch, aesthetically mind-blowing, with superb acting, and amazing cinematography. I love that, despite the show literally being about concubines and consorts, there is NOTHING explicit in the show-- not even a single KISS!! so I LOVE LOVE LOVE that I can allow my children to watch and they are just as obsessed as I am, and even picking up a few Mandarin words along the way! :)

I enjoy watching Asian dramas and wanted to own my favorites ones because one never knows when they will be removed from streaming sites to make way for new content. I had been searching for a while to buy this particular drama, but I know that most Asian dramas are usually manufactured and distributed by other countries and have friends who have burned because they bought from the wrong company that sent them 1) damaged items, 2) DVDs that did not work, 3) had horrible picture or 4) had broken English that made no sense.After checking the reviews for this Amazon seller and a review left for this drama by another buyer, I took a chance and I'm quite pleased that I did. The DVD set arrived in perfect condition and after watching half of the first episode, I can say that the picture quality as perfect and the English subtitles are great, no Engrish or confusion of what the characters are saying.

This is one you will repeatedly watch. About 98% of each scene had English subtitles. I enjoyed all contexts of the story, acting, and scenery. I was a little sad for it to end as I wanted to see and know more. I gave 4 stars because there were 4 scenes with little or no subtitles and a few with just a flash of sub titles. If you loved Shogun with Richard Chamberlain you will Luv Ruyi,'s Royal Love in the Palace.

Prefect and came right on time

I so love the Asian ancient culture movies..the furnishings the clothing the hair styles and added jewels and flowers making them beautiful girls..this series in on tv now and it seems to go on forever..I’m a fan of the girl that cooks in this one..I ve watched her in 2 other Asian movies and find her to be such a good actress..but I can’t figure out what her name is..anyone know?
