Awesome bulb! Color is perfect, but grabs my pole too much..... just read, you will get it.
I waited a long time (years) before pulling the trigger on low wattage light bulbs. I tried a few of the CFL bulbs that I hated due to waiting for them to warm up, not dimmable and just bad light color. Now I have these CREE bulbs and they are the answer. You literally would be hard pressed to tell them apart from the incandescent bulbs they replaced...... YES!! That is what I have been waiting years for. These look great. I changed 6 in my kitchen cans and the ONLY difference is that they are just a hair brighter than the originals. I mean just a tiny bit brighter. The color of my old bulbs was 2700k and these are reported to be ~2800k which sounds right. Color was my biggest issue and I am ready to but about 20 more of these for my whole house. First I will let these ride for a few months to see about issues. DIMMABLE, Yes they are dimmable but not quite as much as the filament bulbs. I tested dimming in another room that has a incandescent Lutron Maestro dimmer. The one with the 7 green LED's on the side to show brightness setting. I just swapped in two bulbs and still had a old bulb in parallel. These bulbs dimmed well and looked good but would not get to theatre lighting levels of course. My kitchen has no dimmer so when I finally put these in my den I will likely leave 1 old bulb to allow the dimmer to work right. My dimmers were about $90 in just the living room due to having 3 switch locations (4-way).ONE NEGATIVE, These bulbs have a grippy feel to the glass. That is great on your ladder screwing them in BUT I use a light pole in my 20' high living room. I have the yellow extension pole light grabber found at big box stores. It gripped my poles springy metal bulb grabber so well that when I tried it in the kitchen I could NOT get the grabber off the new bulb. Pulling down was either going to pull the bulb apart or pull the integrated trim ring bulb socket out the can. It did just that, pulled the trim ring from the ceiling. My kitchen is 10' so getting a ladder to change bulbs was easy. In the living room I have no idea what I will do. I tried putting a paper towel in the bulb grabber so the bulb has no grip on it, it left the paper towel stuck to the bulb. I put water on the bulb and it is hydrophobic (water beads). The grip thing is going to be an issue. I may use the big suction cut attachment but I have had trouble with that thing in the past and dropped bulbs from 20' high. The photos show them installed but one is still the old incandescent bulb. It is hard to tell which one so I point it out in one photo. That is what I love about the bulbs, they "look" like what I am used to, they just save energy, produce less heat, and should last a long time.

Gradually replacing dozens of can lights with these
We have dozens of can lights in our home, and I'm buying these to fill out the incandescents as they burn out.Pros:1) They're very close to incandescent bulbs. I prefer them, because they seem much brighter. But, they're not quite as warm as incandescents. It's not noticeable unless you mix the two bulb styles in close proximity.2) They're dimmable. The light range doesn't seem to be as great nor as fine tuned as incandescent. However, you can use existing dimmer switches, which is a huge plus.3) They're electronically "quiet". Cree bulbs leak very little electronic noise back onto your home wiring system. This is nice if you're running power line networking like I do.4) The bulbs are rubberized. This is a cool perk... the bulbs are coated with a slightly tacky substance, making them easier to screw into place in a constrained can mount. It's a great little touch, and makes them a joy to handle.5) The bulbs are very durable. One of the bulbs was damaged during transit. It was certainly a blow that would've shattered a normal incandescent, but this bulb was still intact. I was able to avoid a return and install it in a location behind a translucent panel where it wasn't noticeable at all.The cons at this point are mainly the price and the slight difference in color. However, for me, they're cheap enough to pay for themselves in about a year or so, and close enough in color to not matter. The biggest perk is knowing that I don't have to get up on a ladder all the time to change bulbs, or to nag others to turn the lights out at night.

LED lights that work great - and are dimmable.
These finally arrived and we love them. What I am so pleased with is even though they are labeled as "Soft White" it is not as yellow a light as the soft white incandescent lights. For a frame of reference, I would put these lights somewhere in between the GE Soft White and the GE Reveal. These are very bright, and they worked with our dimmer switch. More on the dimmer switch - i did a lot of research on installing LED lights with a dimmer switch and quickly realized that there are wildly opposing experiences out there, this is mine. I have four recessed lights in our bedroom, i used four of these Cree LED 9.5 (65W) lights. I used a Lutron dimmer (the version that looks like a traditional light switch, with a small slider bar on the right of the switch) and I have grounded copper wiring (for what it's worth). The lights dim with no flickering, although they do not dim all the way down, but then that is what the light switch is for. If I were to assign a percentage to the dimness of the lights, I would say they start at 100% brightness, and dim down to 30 or 35% dimness. Please keep in mind I did not do a scientific test, I am only sharing my observation on how this works.

these are not the same bulb
As you can see in the picture, these are not the same buld as pictured. The most recent ones i pruchased form the same seller has this extra part to it therefore it does not fit in the socket.
