Product description Product description One of Tim Allen's Christmas movie specials. A great children's movie. Divorced toy company executive Scott Calvin (Tim Allen of Home Improvement and the Toy Story movies) is pleased to have his son Charlie for Christmas, though the boy himself isn't happy about it. But when Santa Claus accidentally topples off the roof of the house and falls with a thud in the snow, Scott finds himself taking the merry old elf's place and earning new respect in his son's eyes. When the night ends, the reindeer take them to the north pole, and Scott discovers that by donning the fabled red suit, he's inadvertently agreed to become the next Santa Claus. The next morning he wakes up in his own bed and thinks it's all a dream--only Charlie remembers it with crystal clarity. Scott now has to deal with his suspicious ex-wife (Wendy Crewson, Air Force One) and her psychiatrist boyfriend (Judge Reinhold, Beverly Hills Cop), who both think he's playing tricks with Charlie's mind, and also with his own out-of-control body, which is putting on weight and growing a prodigious beard. The Santa Clause probably won't supplant It's a Wonderful Life or Miracle on 34th Street as anyone's favorite holiday film, but it's an enjoyable, straightforward family film, anchored by the affable charisma of Allen. --Bret Fetzer .com Divorced toy company executive Scott Calvin (Tim Allen of Home Improvement and the Toy Story movies) is pleased to have his son Charlie for Christmas, though the boy himself isn't happy about it. Good
Loved this movie when it came out, still do. This was the first Santa Clause movie I've ever seen done this way. Killed Santa then he becomes Santa, great! My favorite out the series.

Christmas classic
This is a Christmas Classic. Iβm not a fan of Tim Allen- but he does a great job portraying divorced dad coming to terms with becoming Santa. However, This movie is not in agreement with the more traditional stories about Santa- so if your children are believers, you may want to watch it first to be sure it aligns with your familyβs traditions.

The Santa Clause
This is a great Christmas movie.I feel that there aren't as many good traditional Christmas movies as people think, so when new ones are made they often try to venture out a little. (e.g. The Polar Express; the mechanical-ness of the North Pole just didn't work for me.)But I like traditionally festive Christmas movies with work shops, pretty elves and fat Santa Claus. And even though a portion of this movie takes place out of the festive season it is still very very Christmassy! Just the way I like it. And yet it still keeps original story and characters.Tim Allen looks just as Santa should in the end. :)The movie has everything I like and even manages to draw a tear.Definitely watch this movie!!

What Christmas is all about
For me, this is a perfect Christmas film. It struggles towards the end and gets overly whimsical and Tim Allen's son is a bit of a spoilt brat, but that aside, the blend of humour and the "explanation" of how Santa does it all is really good. I used to watch this with my kids when they were younger. This time round (watched it last night) there were elements I was thinking "whatever" about, as they were way too overly obviously tugging at the heart strings. However, overall, it still felt much more "Christmassy" than a lot of the other so called classic out there.
