Move over Khiel's - make room for Dominello Vitali
A friend suggested I give this a try, and since I enjoy a good shave, I was up for the recommendation. Quick disclaimer; I'm a 20-year user of Khiel's White Eagle Shave Cream and have tried other luxury shave products, only to go back to Khiel's. Not that I dislike Khiel's, quite the opposite, I love Khiel's, but if there is a better shave out there I want to try it - and this may end my search. I shave in the shower and Dominello Vitali is ideal for this set-up. It is an unbelievably thick cream that goes far, I let it set on my beard for a while and after my shave, my skin is exceptionally smooth, and feels supremely hydrated. One thing about this shave cream I did not expect was the scent which is very pleasant, not overpowering, and it even stays with me throughout the day. The scent is really unique, so much so that I can imagine that when my kids are older and they smelled this scent they would associate it with me - like a modern, more sophisticated version of your dad's "aftershave." This product claims to be 99% naturally derived which may explain why my skin feels soooo good after I shave. If you like a great shaving cream and feel like you have tried them all, then you need to order this now and give it a try.

Twice the price for half the effectiveness
I bought this for my boyfriend to try, he hasn't wanted to use it since he tried it the first couple times. He tells me he has to use twice as much of it to get the same effect as his main shaving cream, which is only half the price of this bottle, more comes in that bottle, and as I said, he uses only half as much. I'm sure others have had their own success with this brand, but I won't be buying it again.

Wouldn't recommend.
Has a unpleasant odor, not very smooth on the face.

Smells great, performs ok.
OK, so I was given an opportunity to try out this product and give it a fair review. I am reviewing this from a wet shavers standpoint or what some would consider traditional or old school shaving.Scent- The scent is very nice, I get a strong base of leather and herbs or floral notes. The clove and bergamot stand out in particular. Definitely a masculine musk that carries throughout the day. Not overbearing though. The Lather- This is where I felt it lost most of it's stars and sets it in the average category. I utilize a shaving brush/scuttle and tried test lathers with several including boars hair, silvertip badger, and silvertip synthetic. I used various amounts to get a good feel of the exact amount needed and even with decent squirt I felt the lather took quite a bit of work to build a usable end product. Most quality creams, e.g. Coates, lather extremely well even with just a pea size squirt.Cushion/Slickness- Slickness was on par with most creams and my double edge "Standard" razor with Personna Lab Blue blades glided through well. Cushion was lacking though, I really enjoy the comfort and protection that quality soaps and creams provide so this solidified my thoughts of only providing 3 stars.Post shave- It did leave my skin moisturized and supple. I left out applying an aftershave or any post product and my skin had a nice powdery feel.Overall thoughts- This was not bad at all, just on par with other mass produced shaving products. At $17 for 5oz the price is at a decent price point, on the flip side I would end up flying through this because of the amount needed to get a decent 3 pass shave. Most of my creams can last me 4-6 months easy. My quality shave soaps can stretch even farther at a much lower price point. This cream definitely works far better using a brush, I attempted using just my hands as directed on the label and I felt the results would have me drop this review down 1 maybe even 2 stars. This is just my initial review, over time I'll come back and add to this if my opinions vary from this.

Review of Dominello Vitali Ultraglide Shave Cream
First a disclaimer: I volunteered to do this review for a free sample. What I received: I placed the order for a sample tube (1 oz. – 30 ml.) using a special discount code I was given. A few days later I received the sample. At the time I placed this order I purchased some other items and when I received them a week later I also received a full size tube (5.1 oz. – 150 ml.) of Dominello Vitali Ultraglide Shave Cream at no additional cost. So Amazon’s goof was my gain!Who am I? I’m a bearded neck shaver and have been for 40 + years. About 6 months ago I decided to try wet shaving. I’ve got my technique down–seldom a nick or a weep. My beard is thin but thick – thin as in slightly sparse per square inch, but the hair is thick and straw dry. Although I can skip a day (one advantage of having a grey beard) I usually shave daily. My preferred method: Pre-shave: Shower with shower gel containing moisturizers, and then a hot towel for 5 minutes. Brush: Plisson Synthetic–“Brush of the gods.” Razor: Double edge, Maggard MR-7 open comb with Rapira-Platinum Lux Lather: in bowl–using one of many samples I’m still working my way through. Post: Cold towel, alum block, generic witch-hazel, moisturizer, and aftershave. What I did I do to test Dominello Vitali Ultraglide Shave Cream? I used it every way I could imagine. Everything from as a pre-shave to a post-shave moisturizer, but mostly side-by-side with one of my many cream/soap samples, and finally I used it as directed. It worked well in all configurations, but really shined when I just followed the instructions. So how did it do?Scent and lather: Let’s face it; scent and lather should be the last consideration. What counts are protection, cushioning, and lubricity! Think about this…should any shave cream or soap not provide those three, then why should anyone care about how great the smell or how puffy the lather. Yes there is a scent. It is very mild and not long lasting. I liked it as I got an overall scent of leather, glove and a little menthol, but then it’s gone. In my attempts get good lather I used a synthetic and a boar brush, but it really is meant to be a brushless cream–so don't expect puffy lather.Protection, cushioning and lubricity: It’s got plenty of that! You can use it anyway you want, but if you use it in the shower as directed, I think it surpasses the best of the creams and soaps I tried, including Geo. Trumper and D.R Harris. Yes, it is that good and as a stand-a-lone product it really does not need to be backed up with a pre-shave or post-shave anything, including a moisturizer.Bottom Line: Dominello Vitali Ultraglide Shave Cream was a great discovery for me. As others have noted this shaving cream is a cruelty free, vegan friendly, and made of 99% naturally derived ingredients. Will it replace my standard method? No. I have come to really enjoy my daily ritual with all the fuss and bother, so this short-cut shave cream isn’t for me. On the other hand, Dominello Vitali Ultraglide Shave Cream will be a must have when I travel. All I’ll need is a decent disposable razor and a tube of Dominello Vitali and I’m good to go!TL;DR (To Long; Don't Read) ... I would give it 4 ½ Stars – only because I was a teacher and I never gave anyone an A+. OK, I gave it 5 stars because 4 ½ isn't an option on Amazon.
