- The SparkFun Qwiic SHIM compatible with Raspberry Pi is a small, easily removable breakout that easily adds a Qwiic connector to your Raspberry Pi.
- The design allows you to plug directly to the Pi's I2C bus with no soldering required and the thin PCB design allows for it to be sandwiched on your Pi GPIO with other HATs!
- Uses a unique friction-based connector that wedges itself onto the GPIO header for a secure, solderless connection.
- Also has a 3.3V regulator so it will work with all Qwiic devices. It has a small form factor for minimal space requirements and fits inside protective cases. Note: Raspberry Pi not included.
- The SparkFun Qwiic Connect System is an ecosystem of I2C sensors, actuators, shields and cables that make prototyping faster and less prone to error. All Qwiic-enabled boards use a common 1mm pitch, 4-pin JST connector. This reduces the amount of required PCB space, and polarized connections mean you can’t hook it up wrong.

so far so good - qwiic is I2C
I sandwiched this adapter under a display hat on my raspberry pi, and so far it has has worked great.You don't need special drivers or exotic hardware it is I2C with a nice little connector. It can run a Zio SSD1327 OLED display without extra circuitry or external power.No special drivers. No soldering. It prevents dumb mistakes like swapping power and signal pins. It keeps projects modular and tidy. It doesn't prevent you from using another rasper pi hat. The port is accessible and out of the way. I have not had any connectivity issues so far. I like it!

Friction system doesn't work
When it works, it does exactly what I want it to do and is flawless. When it works is when I am holding it in place with my finger. I tried gluing it in place, but the heat of the pi quickly negates that. Probably just going to solder it in place. Bottom line is, and I'm not sure if I got a bad copy or something, but there is so much wiggle room in the friction connection system that unless you are holding it in place, it is impossible to get a reliable connection

It's simple, quick to install, and easy to use.
It's much simpler than soldering I2C components to a custom hat, and a more reliable connection than jumper wires. Sparkfun and Adafruit already have lots of tiny boards that can connect to these QWIIC or Stemma QT connectors. It can simplify a project, and speed up the time needed to build and test it.

Low-profile but ensure enough Header Pin for HATs above it since HATs vary in connector quality
The Qwiic shim is as thin as you can get and be a quality product. The potential issue is the quality of the HATS youstack on top of it.
