quite happy with this plain & simple step counter.
this simple step counter does a great job at keeping track of indoor steps, as well as my aerobic walking steps.unlike the motion sensor pedometer i also have, this one does not have a step delay function so you don't have to walk 10 continuous steps before pedometer decides to record your steps, so its perfect for steps taking in your house or office where you don't often take ten steps to get to areas of it.. it was hard to open at first like others mentioned but, than i realized if you push down on top of left clip as you pull up and back on latch, it opens quite effortlessly.. overall its pretty accurate and i like it a lot better than my pedometer that has a lot more functions..It on occasion thinks me quickly plopping down on the couch is a step too but, overall its quite accurate..it does make a light clicking sound as you walk but, you get use to it and personally i like it cause i know its counting my steps like it should be so i don't have to keep checking to see if it is like i had to do with my other pedometer i used before getting this here one..Also not sure if normal since some reviews recommended buying one but, i actually receive a safety leash with mine..have not personally really needed it but, on thin waist bands, it will be useful to have.

The Model 200 is worthless and a waste of money!
I've been using Digi-Walker for 20 years. Always before, this pedometer has been excellent in counting steps. I needed to replace my current Digi-Walker because I dropped it on concrete and it fell apart -- my fault. The delivery time for the model which measures your stride was going to be over 10 days, so I got this Model 200 because I felt lost without mine and the 200 would come in two days. This Model 200 is HORRIBLE! If you simply shift your body to one side without taking a step, it will count it as four to five steps. There is zero accuracy in tracking your number of steps. I walked 20 steps and the count showed up as 38. This model needs to be eliminated from the Digi-Walker line.

The gold standard pedometer
This is the pedometer that other pedometers are measured against by researchers. It is extremely accurate, although it may take a few tries to find the best placement for you. I keep it in my pocket and it seems to be pretty accurate there, but it didn't work for my son in his pocket and he wound up putting it on his coin pocket. This is a very easy pedometer to use-it only has one button that resets the device to zero. It's a clamshell design, which prevents the button from accidentally being pressed and wiping out your steps. It's easy to pop open and replace the battery. The display is large and easy to read, and there is a calorie-to-steps chart. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is the clip. For such a well-made device, the clip is the worst. It's just a piece of plastic bent into the shape of a clip on the back of the device. It doesn't hold very well and can pop off easily. If you plan to clip the pedometer to a belt, make sure you get the leash so when it pops off (and it will) it doesn't fall on the ground.

I Don't Like Being Without This Pedometer
I love this pedometer. I had my previous one for four years; then the plastic piece, that holds the leash and keeps the Digiwalker closed, broke off (that's the only weakness I found with it). I wanted to replace the pedometer right away, but the only ones available cost twice what I had originally paid. Instead, I fixed it with stick-on velcro, determined that I would replace it, only if and when a reasonably-priced one became available. Though the repaired Digiwalker was working well, when I saw this one for $19.50, I jumped at the chance and bought it. It arrived, with normal delivery and free shipping, in a day and a half--SO FAST that I had been wearing it all afternoon, before Amazon had even sent me the email that it had shipped. Now that is fast. I'm happy with the 200. All I really care about is counting steps, and it is very accurate. Whenever I test it by counting the steps myself, the Digiwalker is always right. Be sure to get the leash. So many times, it saved the day. Oh, and don't pull on the leash to open the Digiwalker. That's how I broke my first one.

Disappointed
This is my second SW-200 Yamax Digiwalker Pedometer. I loved the first one and recommended to many friends. It began losing the pins which held it together however, and I had to use to tape to make sure the only pin left didn't fall out so I ordered a new one just like it. However, the new one is very hard to open. It also doesn't have a solid back but has clear plastic that you can see through. I don't know if that is why it is hard to open or if that has no bearing, but I will buy a different kind the next time.

... how close or far away I am from the recommended 10, 000 steps per day
The only reason I wanted a pedometer was to measure how many steps I am taking so that I can see how close or far away I am from the recommended 10,000 steps per day. Unfortunately, the pedometer does not keep an accurate count of my steps. It does not record all of them. I am thinking that if I were running or took heavy steps, it might work. However, I am just walking and doing average walking around the house.I wish I could find some pedometer that will keep accurate count.

simple to do
Just as I said, simple, don't need alot of this and that on it. Just tell me the steps and that's what I want. I have a clip on it , you can buy, just in case it comes off waistband. I did loose one , so lesson learned. I just want to know the steps and when done walking, I can figure how many miles I did on my own.

no credit for all the steps!
I have used these step counters for years and found them very motivating and helpful in maintaining a walking habit. This one stopped working about 3 weeks after I got it and started wearing it. Of course, by the time I checked on line to return it, it was no longer returnable. I walk with someone who uses a fit bit. Today we walked together. She got over 4 miles on her fit bit. my Digiwalker showed less than one mile. since I usually walk by myself, I need to know how far I am walking every day. Very discouraging to see that I walked less than one mile when I know that I walked more than that.!

I looked at many before finding this perfect (for me) pedometer.
Accurate, simple (no adjustments needed), well made, convenient. unobtrusive, rugged, looks likely to last for years. More accurate and simpler than previously owned. Have used only 1 month. Where the unit is carried appears to be critical to accuracy. I carry minedirectly over my knee and on my belt.

Very good unit
Look at how complex most pedometers are. If you just need to count steps this one is the best. It's tough. Well made. Accurate. One button!I called the 1-800 number because I had a question. A person picked up and was very helpful. And No, it isn't too expensive for what you get. Don't be a cheap skate.

For me this was a total waste of money - very cheap
For me this was a total waste of money - very cheap, hard plastic which fell apart after the third wearing - I wasn't too bothered really as it was a very inefficient step counter anyway - you get what you pay for really applies to this pedometer - mine is in the bin and I have no intention of replacing it

Too expensive for its uses
I've bought this product because I was told it was a really good product and it seems to be ; it's accurate, unobstructive, looks tough and it's small. It even comes with a safety leash, which I think is nice.Despite its qualities, I'd like to point out that I think it's a way too expensive pedometer (30$)for what it does ; it only counts the number of steps made over an undetermined period of time (it only has a reset button, as shown on the picture).I found a pedometer at my local pharmacy (which is not a specialized seller for that kind of stuff) that is as musch accurate a the SW-200 Yamax Digiwalker and that also calculates distance traveled troughout the day (with your stride length). The one I found was half the price(15$) (made by "Sportline"). I was suprised by it's cheap price and it's accuracy.
