Makes great tips for Harbor Freight 180 Watt soldering gun
The Harbor Freight 180 watt soldering gun is supplied with soldering tips which have 2.5mm diameter shanks. The diameter of these 3/32 in brass rods is only smaller than the 2.5mm shanks of the supplied tips 0.12mm. The clasps of the soldering gun have no problem grasping the ends of the 3/32 brass rod. I started using brass instead of copper because I didn't have any copper rod lying around; however, I found that the brass tins just as well as the copper does with both lead and silver solders and unlike copper tips it does not seem to soften under the high heat which the soldering gun produces if you are willing to pay for it. A few blows from a hammer will make a nice flat spot on the front of the tip. I used about six inches of brass to make my tips, so I got about two tips from one length of brass rod.

This Rod could be used as a gage pin!
Oh my goodness. I love it when things are perfect!: - )The holes I make for pieces of rods like this, are accurate to within 0.00025". Now I have a range of reamers that I can use, if need be. To get a hole exactly where I want it, but his 5/32" (0.15625") O.D. Brass rod Arrived here measuring . . . . . wait for it . . . . 0.156250". That's accurate to 1 millionth of an inch! I almost fainted, when I measured it. Once, twice, three times! Now I realize that most people buying this rod for, whatever. Don't need this level of accuracy. Heck, even I don't need it quite this accurate. But it is nice to have, and to get this level of quality from K&S. It's good to know that K&S is still a great American company!Thank you, K&S. I applaud you.

Works well for me.
Works well for me, how the spring mechanism at first was a little hard to work. Gets better with use.

worked perfectly
I used these brass rods to make a little circuit sculpture for my apartment that displays the current temperature indoors. Worked great for that application. This size fits perfectly in to the pin header holes on a microcontroller.I will for sure be buying more. I'm a little new to this world but it seems like K&S Metals is the go-to company for brass rods like this. Everybody loves them, I see why.

Versatile Rods
I know I use these for unconventional and surprising ways, but they’re so versatile. They can be used in jewelry application, crafts and pretty much anything you can imagine. I mainly use them for rolling up newspapers and flyers into tubes that I can weave. I then make recycled baskets withheld rolled up tubes . The size is perfect and the rod is long enough that I get a perfect roll every time.
