Great resource for all!
This is a great book and resource for everyone interested in Korean and Asian skincare. It's great for someone new to really get an understanding of what the Korean skincare culture is really all. I have been heavily into Korean and Asian skincare for over a year and I still find all the different products and terms confusing at times. Even for someone quite familiar with the Korean skincare world I found this to be a very valuable resource. My first impression of the book is that it's really visually gorgeous. For an informative book I think great pictures are a key to keep me interested and this book really delivered. I loved that the first half of the book really explained some of the history and different steps of a Korean skincare routine. Since routines should be highly customized to each individual face it's great to get the basics and definitions all in one place. I also love seeing the different routines from beauty bloggers which really show how unique and different Korean skincare can be!There is also a great deal of information on Korean makeup which is often overlooked when talking about Korean beauty. There is really some great makeup in the Korean beauty world and I'm glad to see this included so prominently in this book. One of my absolutely favorite parts of the book is the ingredient translations in the back. Anyone who is into Korean beauty that doesn't read Korean knows how hard it it's to decifer the Hangul letters so I'm so happy to have this all in one place.Overall, I think this is a great book with tons of great information!

So good that I'm buying another one for my desk
Before I confuse everyone, this is Tracy Teel (Finesse Writing and Editing), not Roy. I purchased this incredible book using my husband's account (and I want the review to show that this was, indeed, an Amazon Verified Purchase). Now ... on to the good stuff. While a newbie when it comes to K-beauty, I've been a skincare devotee since I was 20. Now, as 50 comes knocking at my door, I continue to have great skin and that's due to my ongoing commitment to all things beauty. Since I write for a variety of beauty industry clients, I've been learning about Korean skincare for about a year ... but I still felt a little uneducated. Then, I found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow: Kerry and Coco's book. Ahhhh. Do you hear the angels? This compilation is the textbook you need with the personality that keeps you coming back for more.As an editor, I know that content development and style are key to keeping readers engaged. These ladies are pros! I read the first 72 pages in one sitting, and the next 82 the following morning. Since finishing it, I've opened it at least once every day to either refresh my memory or to look something up. Yes, it's that good. I'm placing an order for a second copy now because I want one by my bedside and another on my desk. I can't tell you how useful this book is. You simply must buy a copy for yourself. And by "buy," I mean "get the hardback."Aside from its engaging information, detailed research, and incredibly friendly style, it's utterly gorgeous ... and it lays flat when opened! I'm a book lover, and that quality alone pleases me endlessly. This is simply a must-have, must-read, must-share compilation of joy. Thank you, ladies. I can tell that this was a labor of love. Bravo!

Helpful
I'm glad I bought this, and definitely found it helpful in explaining a lot of the steps and ingredients to a Korean beauty and skincare routine. I like the examples of skincare routines from different people that they've included, although it can be a little tedious flipping through them to try to find one that is relevant to you and your specific skincare concerns. I also wish they had included more photos of the people whose skincare routines are explained — not to be harsh, but if I'm going to model a skincare routine after someone, I would like to know that their skin looks good! Still very happy with the purchase and refer to it semi-regularly.

What the heck is "Korean Beauty"??
Let me start off by saying that I'm no beauty expert. I didn't even decide that it was fun to wear dresses until I was in my thirties. I went through a phase where I was in a rock band and wore costumes and sparkly makeup for a while, but then I settled down and popped out a kid who is now just over a year old. The most grooming I do these days is throwing my hair in a ponytail. I have been blessed with fairly normal non-reactive skin so I never really thought about my skin much. My skin care "routine" consisted of washing my face with bar soap in the shower, and then slathering it in a moisturizer with SPF in it, and I never even considered that there was anything else to be done. Not only am I not a beauty person, I also am not a book reviewer. As presidential candidates love to claim, I'm an "outsider". I think this background kind of makes me an awesome reviewer for a book like this.I got this book last Friday from a friend and finished it the same weekend (which is amazingly fast for me... did I mention I have a baby?). It really opened my eyes to a whole new world. As the book tells you, you do not have to buy a bunch of high-priced Korean products to create a "Korean-style" skin care routine. I decided to start my routine by purchasing some American drugstore brands. I used the book to determine what kind of skin I have (normal, but SOOOO DEHYDRATED) and to figure out what types of ingredients to look for. The books beautifully lists out what the ingredients that you find in skincare actually do for you... I was able to pop into Walgreens and find 4 products, totaling less than $30, that have the humectants I need to start a routine, and it has already made such an amazing difference. My face is so smooth and soft, my nose pores look noticeably smaller, and it has only been three days since I started. My skin feels just so JUICY!! I'm going to look into some of the Korean products from the book and from the blogs that the book turned me on to (the Whamisa organic fermented flower toner stuff sounds so delicious) when my current supplies start running low.I am just in awe that I've been overlooking my largest organ for this long, and I'm ready for the future of age-defying, moisturizing, CARING for my skin in a natural way. Also, I never expected a beauty book to be funny, but there are lines in it that made me laugh out loud. The authors are knowledgeable and clever, the chapters are organized perfectly, the photos are gorgeous, the design is flawless... I can't think of anything negative to say about it. Whether you're a person engaged in a longstanding love affair with K-beauty, or if you're a K-noob like me, this book is going to be right up your alley!

this book is a brilliant foundation to have in your arsenal
Although make-up books are in no short supply, it was a welcome change to find such a comprehensive and well structured book suitable for newcomers to the world of Korean beauty, straight through to die hard K-beauty aficionados. Breaking down specific products, routines, ingredients and looks, this book is a brilliant foundation to have in your arsenal. I especially have to commend the attention to detail that went into providing stockists info, as sourcing products can be one of the trickiest aspects of navigating K-beauty!

A fantastic book by two amazing bloggers
A fantastic book by two amazing bloggers. I've never been much for skincare or makeup and prefer to go the route of quick and convenient, but "Korean Beauty Secrets" has really opened my eyes to the fact that I can have a relatively quick and simple routine and still get the results I want. The focus on diverse skin types, skin colours and ethnicities is also incredibly refreshing to see in an industry that rarely caters to a broad range of faces. Love. It.
