A real unbiased review
Interesting that of the 26 reviews for this product, they have all been free or discounted save for 4 of them, so far. I did not receive a free or discounted grinder and I bought this one to do a head to head comparison against a Hario grinder that I bought last month. I gave the other one 4 stars for what I felt were obvious areas that needed improvement and I am giving this grinder 4 stars also. Why, because they are identical. The only difference I could find was a few parts on the other one were stamped with the product name and this one only has a sticker on the glass to identify it. That and the burr is white on this one and grey on the other one. I guess you could say this is the generic version of the brand name grinder. Wait, I did just say that. Being that this is the twin of the brand name product, it has the same glaring deficiencies as it's brand name clone. Specifically, the handle comes loose. Really, how hard is it to drop a lock washer (which I did) over the bolt to keep it tight. That or a locking surface in the handle nut. They have been doing that in cars forever. Then that misbehaving rubbery base cushion that is supposed to keep you from breaking the glass jar part. How many people do you think are really going to grind while holding the grinder firmly on the surface of a counter top? Very few, excluding those that just have to follow all directions and drive the rest of us crazy. No, you pick it up in one hand and grind away with the other. Come on, you know you do it. As soon as the grinder achieves hand aided liftoff, that silly base thingy makes it's getaway. I contact cemented the bases on both of the grinders. I have to keep doing it since the base thing is not just rubber, but from what I can tell it is silicone based and contact cement kind of slides off after a bit. Wow, how can I have such a negative opinion and still give it 4 stars? Well, I'm glad you asked. It arrived in a very secure packing that is one of the better packed for shipping items I have received over the years. And, being the generic version, it didn't cost much. I think it was $22. and that was about $5 cheaper than the brand name grinder. So about 20% less, virtually identical to the other (which is relatively cheap anyway) and don't get me wrong, it is a great grinder. Now I am grinding away at anything that can be ground just to see how long they last. That burr is mighty tough. I would buy this one again in a heartbeat, although I think it should be improved in the areas mentioned above, it is still a great product for the price. This is my unbiased opinion and I did not receive this at a discount.11/03/15 A postscript if you will, after reading my somewhat verbose review I realized it sounds pretty negative. That was not my intention at all. I am very pleased with this grinder and the only reason for the 4 stars is the handle and rubber base issues. This company sounds like they are striving for great customer service and listening to us consumers and that too is a good thing.

I Like It!
I really like this grinder.I roast and grind my own beans.I have an electric grinder.I wanted this for mornings when I am up before everyone else and to grind the beans without the noise associated with an electric grinder. It will also come in handy when travelling. The electric grinder I have has about 20 grind settings. With this grinder the settings are more than doubled because they are set by turning a screw attached to the burr grinders. This allows for more precise grinding. The 100g capacity is more convenient for holding the ground coffee then wanting to hand grind 100g. I grind 22g for my Aero Press, which takes about 120 cranks, less than 2 minutes. Sounds like a lot of cranking, but it is quite manageable. But to grind 100g at one tome might take awhile. The advantages of the 100g capacity to me are it gives a nice base to hold while cranking, and more importantly, makes it easy to pour the grindsinto the Aero Press..I find that the screw cap that holds the crank onto the top needs to be tightened every so often, but the crank handle is very secure while turning.I pondered the idea of buying a smaller capacity, slimmer design grinder, but I am glad I bought this one, very pleased with the product.

Learned something new. This is not a quality product because...
The product arrived exactly as pictured online and the Guide looked great, however, while getting acquainted with the various parts of the grinder I noticed that the inner ceramic burr was either improperly centered or uneven. I attached photos to show the misalignment...one photo is on one side where the burrs are touching, while at the same time, the other side has a relatively large gap. Granted, I wouldn't grind beans on this setting but it does illustrate the varying degree of coarseness you would get with every turn of the handle on any setting. I didn't expect this to be an issue but I learned something new about what to look for in something that should be grinding evenly.I'm disappointed that the mis-alignment is so obvious. I can't expect to get even grinds, which was the whole purpose for purchasing a burr grinder over a blade grinder in the first place.I few days later I received a response from Grant, their Co-Founder, offering to ship me an attachment to stabilize the burr but I had already returned the product.
