This is only a small ball where the yarn is wrapped onto a card tube and a fine thread suitable for a 2mm crochet hook or 2.76 - 3.25 mm knitting needles in Chinese sizing. Made from 100% cotton with a bright gradient rainbow colouring. I bought this for darning my socks as I have decided to avoid chucking sue to the odd hole that appears ( why chuck a perfectly good sock plus good for the environment). This has been perfect for this and yes a bit more expensive than embroidery thread bit I was after something a bit more fun considering I have brightly coloured cotton socks. I would recommend for darning.

This product was not what I expected at all. This is not wool or yarn, this is cotton. I cannot crochet with this so have wasted my money

I'll start positive: The colours are beautiful, it feels soft and good quality.Now the negative: like others I wish I had looked at the reviews first.Like others say it is not good value for money.It is more of a lace yarn, suitable for amigurumi projects. The pictures are deceiving and I feel the tittle and description hide this knowing that full well. Thankfully I had ordered another ball by Mandala Wool which will do what I needed this for, has double the amount I expected so it makes up for it.I could send for a refund but I think I might try my hand at an amigurumi project or maybe try making some cotton lantern weaved balls. So it will get used some where.I gave it two stars because it isn't a bad item, but it is expensive for what you get and not really as advertised.

Now I wish I had read the reviews BEFORE BUYING this is thin cotton not very good for knitting or using for craft it’s colourful but takes ages to get to change colours it definitely isn’t worth the money and it’s definitely very small on arrival not what’s shown in the picture unfortunately

Really disappointed. I used two balls of yarn together (so was using double yarn at the same time)I have finished my project and wanted to start another one, only to find that one ball has half the amount remaining that the other one! So in effect, one ball was half the size of the other one. Now I will have to buy two more balls to complete my project. Not happy at all.

You say knitting yarn and you expect regular yarn for knitting and crochet but this item is thread, suitable more for sewing machine than knitting. Its almost like coloured string and the time it took to arrive (over 2 months!!) was shocking. Would not recommend if you are planning on using anything other than a needle for this. The entire item fits in less than half of my hand.
