My god! These things are expensive! Just the same, I bought two of them. I am setting up a home generator and a storage system for 150 gallons of gasoline. My invalid 89 year old mom lives with me, and there is no way she could live in this south Texas heat and humidity without air conditioning. Our electricity grid in Texas is suffering from over use and neglect and the weather patterns get worse every year. I am taking every safety precaution I can think of, but I think it would be stupid not to have at least two of these 20 pound monsters around...just in case the unthinkable should try to happen.

The manufacturer's package doesn't protect the product during the Amazon shipping process. I order 4 units and 2 of the 4 had discharged during the shipping process (no marking to keep right side up during transit, and likely no one would adhere to it)

This thing is comically large. Imagine the biggest extinguisher you see on a regular basis... then multiply that by 2 or 3. It is quite heavy and doesn't have a handle to hold it by, so it would be pretty hard for a smaller person to use. I'm 6'9" and it feels heavy but manageable. My 5' 7" wife doesn't think she'd be able to quickly/safely operate it in a fire so we got her a smaller one. If you are a small person I'd strongly recommend getting 2 of a smaller size. When I received it the pin was pulled out of it (dangling), so be careful not to pull it out of the box by the handle! Overall a good value if you can manage it.

I purchased this 20 lb extinguisher as a supplemental back-up unit and placed it in a central location in my home. I hope to never use it, however, it is there if I do.One thing to consider is the size and weight of this extinguisher as it is about 38 lbs. The fit, finish, and overall quality is outstanding. I contacted a local fire extinguisher service company and they highly recommended the Amerex brand.

It’s large and for a real fire you don’t want a little one..We have this extinguisher mounted on the side of 3 type 2 engines, great size for a quick knockdown without pulling hose…

It was discharged in the box when arived
