Classic for casino gaming. The Bible.

I am very happy with the book though it took One month to reach IndiaThe book really starts for me at page 92 .The previous chapters are about law in the USA and I would be working outside of the USAThe 1988 edition is already yellow pagedHowever it is well explained and I would recommend it for a beginnerthe Flow diagrams are good and there are a lot of practical examples

This book primarily focuses on the revenue streams/games and related accounting. I was hoping for more details like sample financial statements, descriptive chart of accounts, detailed listing of fixeds assets and useful lives book and tax. For example, are slot machine bases and chairs typically capitalized? Also, is a slot 'parts inventory' kept? Blanket statements like 'The decision to capitalize or expense various maintenance and repair costs is the same in the casino industry as it is in other businesses' is not helpful. Every major casino must have their standards for what to expense and capitalize. Would be nice to see a consensus of industry standards included in this book. Still left with the questions that I had prior to purchase of the book.

Provided everything you need to understand the business. Unfortunately, the business changed so much that text like this needs constant updating. For example, majority of casinos are countless so that section was unnecessary. Also, most gambling markets have changed, it is no longer the same like described in book.

For those daring enought to enter the world of casino operations, this book is a must read. It is filled with a carefully laid out analysis and explanation of the casino operations. This is a subject that is extremely difficult to find actual documentation regarding such simple things as net win. A first rate choice for the casino operator.
