The Ghost Ship is for real!
During stormy seas, Kurt Pitt attempted to save lives of dear friends on a sinking yacht which swooped him into a drama centered on world computer security. Then he and associate buy and dismantle a Tesla car to ingeniously develop unique magnetic traction to board a rogue yacht. Mission was successful. Then, one of the newest fully computer controlled NUMA research ships was nearly destroyed by offshore computer hackers and left floundering at sea. A submersible was hacked and left to flounder. While the NUMA ship was powerlessly floundering in the southern sea, the ghost ship was discovered as a floating derelict some distance away. Some of the NUMA crew investigated the ghost ship which revealed an interesting history connected to the story. In the mean time, Kurt Pitt and associate invaded a secret underground tunnel connecting North and South Korea moving right on the heals of the computer hackers and thought-to-be-dead friend. Ultimately Kurt and associate invade a rich man’s compound in Madagascar, find the quarry and friend, and help the culprit be annihilated.

I returned the hardcover edition!!!
Clive is a most masterful storyteller and any book he’s involved with is going to be an entertaining read. I really don’t need to add my praise to his exceptional wordsmithing skills. Every one of his books is always well crafted with a compelling plot.My son ordered the hardcover edition of “Ghost Ship” from Amazon as a birthing day gift for me. However, I haven’t read a printed on paper book since September 2010—I love the easy-on-the-eyes Kindle ebooks. I was amazed at how easy Amazon made it to return the gifted book and exchange it for an Amazon gift card credit. The entire process of return-for-credit was accomplished in just about three days. I rarely purchase ebooks priced greater than $9.99—I totally dislike the concept of “agency pricing” employed by the gigantic publishers—however, this was a gift so I paid $11.99 for the Kindle edition. It was regrettable that the publisher turned off the Amazon lending feature so I was unable to lend the ebook to my son.The “Ghost Ship” and Amazon’s customer service are indeed worthy of 5-stars, however, the publisher doesn’t even rate a single star due to their disrespect of folks who prefer to purchase ebooks at consumer-friendly prices and then have the ability to lend the ebook to a friend.Enjoy often… John

Good story
An entertaining read with enough twists and turns to keep the reader guessing at least a little nearly to the end. Not the best of Clive Cussler but, considering that terrific author's recent death (my condolences to the family), perhaps a precursor of what might be in the future for Graham Brown. Only time will tell.

A Ghost Ship Story? No
The "Ghost Ship" (Waratah) plays a lesser part in the story than the title or cover art would have the reader believe. Appearing in the very beginning, we have it's strange disappearance. About 2/3 the way through, it does play a part in some antagonists' background, particularly two. If the reader is looking for a murky ghost ship story, this isn't it.It's a story of modern day kidnapped computer hackers and a captor with an insatiable quest for power. Throw in his cronies and you have the bad guys. Much of it takes place in Mozambique and Korea. It starts like a soap opera with a member of NUMA chasing down his ex-fiancé when she, her husband and kids are involved in the wreck of their yacht. It starts with NUMA and ends with "Bring in the marines."The novel is more like an old James Bond-ish action story. It has plenty of action, borders on the preposterous at times, but is entertaining. I like Mr.Cussler, but the NUMA series is not my favorite of his. Only personal taste.

Clivce Cussle is keeping up his excellent work...
I'm a Cussler lover and this book is excellent...a bit complicated but if you like Numa books it is a winner...I had to re-read a few paragraphs that involved new characters but in the end I did not want to finish the book...I didn't want it to end it was so good...I actually read another short story then got back to the end of this one....sometimes you don't want the book to end...than I had a hard time finding something else to read even though I have dozens of other books on my Kindle...as of this writing I still haven't found something good to read...following Clive Cussler is a tough job for any other author...I can hardly wait for the next book...I know Clive teams up with several different authors to write and each other author has a special Clive character...as opposed to James Patterson who sometime teams up with others and I can tell that the 'other' wrote most of the story...

Great story!
Great thrilling consuming comment story. Just a shame the, at times, childish, conversations let it down. That said though, highly recommend. More suited to teenagers or less intelligent people. The overall plot was great. Kinda wordy prologue once the main plot was over, by then you just want it to hurry up and finish! :)

Review of GHOST SHIP by Clive Cussler
If you enjoy fictional novels by Clive Cussler this book fits the bill. It is a typical book by the author,; it has all the elements of an 'escape book', yet it maintains your interest throughout the novel. The book stars Kurt Austin and his best friend Joe Zavala, yet Dirk Pitt plays an minor part. I do wish that the flagship character, Dirk Pitt did not play such a minor part. I like Dirk Pitt yet I feel he has run his course as character. On the other hand, Kurt Austin as a character has not yet been fully developed. This book is still an enjoyable read. The synopsis of the book on Amazon draws your interest and makes you want to read this book. If you like Clive Cussler's books you will definitely want to read this book.

CUSSLER DOES IT AGAIN SUPERB
CLIVE CUSSLER DOES IT AGAINKurt Austin tries desperately to save an ex girlfriend and her two children from their sinking yacht. It is a desperate bid and the storm is mighty awesome. He is unable to do so, and spirals into a despair of drinking and doing little else. His psychiatrist a woman he has started sleeping with, abandons him telling him he needs to get over blaming himself, and start to live again. This he manages to do, because he truly believes that Sienna did not die that night. He travels to Korea and there his adventures seem to start, there have been photographs taken of a woman who looks remarkably like Sienna, but why would she be there, and not look like she was under duress.Whilst Kurt is trying to sort out this mystery, The Trouts are aboard the NUMA search ship when someone tries to kill them, whilst looking into the shipwrecked yacht. There boat loses all controls and then they find a long lost ship that was thought to have sunk over a hundred years before.A gripping adventure book that keeps us on the edge of our seats, and does not let go until the last page.

Cracking Page-Turner
At a loss of finding anything to take on a short break, gave this a go, which for me was a first time read of a Clive Cussler. Loved it! Couldn't put it down and a real page-turner. Been a while since I so thoroughly enjoyed a book. Exciting modern Indiana Jones type action and adventure and I hadn't realised that was what I going to get when I read the first few chapters, so now found another author to explore when this is the type of read I want.Whilst I don't wish to disparage something that gave me such good entertainment, it is sometimes a bit corny, cliche'd, repetitive in style and not well edited in places, but I really didn't care because I wanted an entertaining read which is exactly what I got. Only real criticism is that I'd like to have known more about the back-story and some of the characters, but I guess that's the trade off to get a zippy never-boring read.

Cussler books
I have yet to find a book written be Clive Cussler that has not been great reading. Some start off slow but the action builds up and is great. The only person I know who makes you think you are actually there whilst reading. Someday I would love to meet this great writer

Good - but
Good - but....Another great read, full of surprising twists (as have come to expect from Clive Cussler)But as so often he doesn't research detail, especially anything outside the USA. In the first chapter we heard of £10 notes with the picture of King George. Problem is, that passage was set in 1909 - King George didn't come to the throne until 1910Might seem a pit pedantic, but it's a shame to have such a simple error earlt in the book
