Works well, but a bit pricey
This deep water release works as advertised. A big improvement over the kind that you have to stick through the fishโs jaw. We have struggled for years with the pin style release. They do work, but they are fussy. I donโt like having to stick the fish again to use it and you risk getting stuck yourself from fish spines as you are trying to fit it. Too often, the fish comes off before you can start dropping it down, and then you have to back up the boat, get the fish onboard again, and start the process over. This can take long enough that the fish does not survive anyway, and ends up floating at the surface until the seagulls get it. You can end up spending 15 minutes trying to release a fish. We used the seaqualizer release in Alaska to drop yellow eye and other rockfish back to depth. This deep water release quickly, easily and securely clips onto the fishโs jaw. In addition to using a spare rod, It can easily be clipped to a downrigger ball, which can handle any size fish you are likely to need to release. The adjustable depth release feature is quite useful, allowing you to use it in a range of depths. I canโt comment on durability, because we have used it on only one trip so far. We rinsed in fresh water hoping to avoid corrosion. I would have rated this a five, but I feel the price is too high, so the value is not as good as it should be.

High end descending device
This is my second purchase to use as a backup. I do a lot of rock fishing. California now requires to have a descending device. This works wonders, You do need a heavy leader and sinker though 200 Lbs mono. You will know when the fish gets released, the line goes out faster. Expensive, but it will do the job.

Best rockfish release out there
Set the appropriate debth. Add a weight big enough to take the fish down. Drop fish at a slow steady speed. Give it a few seconds on bottom. It releases right, every time.

These work awsome
This is the quickest sinker/release I have found. Works every time reliably and is so quick to rig up and send down. To me the speed at which you can rig this and send it down makes it worth every penny. It's also easy to teach newbie's on the boat how to use it. Big win!

Great deep release
This release works exactly as is expected, set the release to open at 100 feet, dropped it to 125 feet on the downrigger ball and when I brought it up the jaws were open and the fish was gone. I can only assume that it worked correctly. Very happy about that, you can set the jaws to open at 100, 200 or 300 feet.
