Love these books
This is an author that delights every time!!! The artistry of the characters on the pages and the stories are always such that the children in my family want to read them over and over. I have most all of her books and I highly recommend them!!! I have nieces and nephews age 3-11 years of age....The older kids like to read her books to the younger ones....They all love the beautiful illustrations in these books. The best possible combination for kids is an appealing story plus beautiful illustrations...These books always deliver and are some of the first the kids gravitate to on my bookshelves.

Great Book, Both Story and Artist
I am now hunting down everything I can about this talented writer. It's a simple story, but she get's that poor lion to sleep in a very nice way, helped by an owl, I believe. The little niece I bought it for loved Arlo so much and worried about him. She though that another lion should sing to him, but the way he gets to sleep satisfied her I bought a copy for me and I'm 76. Since graduate school I've collected children's books. This woman lives in Annapolis, a town I'm very familiar with because my late husband and I were avid sailors and had a lot of friends there.

Visualising falling asleep through a story!
This is a lovely book for young children! This story is a bit longer than other stories by Catherine Rayner, but it's very engaging. Arlo can't sleep and he gets a bit of help by an owl in the form of a song. The song features more than once in the book and it can help children visualise falling asleep. I enjoyed reading it to my son and I even came up with a melody for the song. While my son is too young to understand the story, he seemed to enjoy the illustrations a lot and to listen to me singing. I could most certainly recommend to any parent who likes to read before bed to their little one!
