simple and effective
These are not flashy - at the price I would hardly expect them to be - but they do the job. And I love them!I usually hate wearing headsets and avoid doing so whenever possible, as the pressure around my ears generally gives me a headache. However these are so light that they cause no problem. The sound quality is perfectly adequate for Skype, gaming etc (although hardly for HQ music listening). The microphone can be positioned unobtrusively. The only control is an On/Off switch on the cable. But what more is needed? It is the simplicity that makes it so light, and the lightness that makes it so useful. Yes, the lightness means that it is not robust enough to withstand harsh usage, but neither is it particularly flimsy or of shoddy construction. In normal use, I expect it to last adequately. The only caveat is that they are a little old-fashioned. The connection is a double jack, rather than the single expected by modern laptops.

I absolutely hate the tactile feel of the foamy covers on my ears
These seem like they will break when someone accidentally sits on them.I wonder if "lightweight" is a way of saying "cheap and nasty"?I hate the sensation of the foamy ear covers. These have a separate microphone (pink) and earphone (green) jack. My MacBook Pro only has one socket — a 3.5 mm jack — like my iPhone and iPad. Perhaps this is good for older devices that have separate ports. (I tested this with my iPhone, using Skype; the boom mic from the headphones don't send anything; the phone uses its built in microphone). [I'm not docking marks for this — it's just an observation.]The audio fidelity is a little poor, but I suppose fine for the price, and for conducting phone conversations — not listening to music. The lead is certainly long enough. (Actually, it feels excessively long.)Perhaps I am biased? Just because I don't like them doesn't necessarily mean that you won't.

Good entry level headset, audio quality is good. These are handy for offices and conference calling
These headphones are good for use in an office environment for making conference calls and for watching safety videos or quarterly briefing webcasts without disturbing your colleagues.I didn't think that they would be very good considering they are quite reasonably priced, but the sound quality was fine and the microphone is also good for an entry level headset. The materials are fairly lightweight and there isn't any padding on the headband so it's not a headset that I'd want to wear for any long length of time, especially if I was working in an environment like a call centre all day, but for conference calls lasting an hour or so, it's good enough. The set comes with two leads, which are bound together in a braided cable cover, which I like because it feels strong and less likely to kink. One lead is the microphone and the other is the headphones, so this set needs both of those two 3.5mm sockets to be available. However, if you don't want to tie up a USB port with the other type of headset, then this would be a good choice.4 stars.

For the price this headset is unbeatable in my opinion!
I used Dragon NaturallySpeaking software on my PC rather than using the keyboard, previously I had been using a Microsoft headset but this is quite uncomfortable. The Speedlink headset is much more comfortable. The playback sound is exceptional quality. No installation was required, it is plugged into a USB slot and the headset was immediately recognised. There is an in-line remote control to mute the microphone, Mute the playback and adjust volume. A red LED lights when the microphone is turned off. This entire review was written using the headset and the Dragon NaturallySpeaking software., Mute the playback and adjust volume. Good value headset
This is a great value headset. The sound quality is reasonable and porbablywhat you would expect at this price point. There is verylittle sound leakage from the headphones which is a definite plus (well certainly for others around you!). Once on, the headset is very comfortable amd the lightness of it means you don't feel any pressure over a long period of time. The controls are handily located but do feel a little flimsy. They are, however, easy to operate. The microphone is easily adjusted and comes with a microphone sock which is useful to prevent popping on recordings. The quality of sound recording on a standard voice recorder is excellent and the microphone is sensitive enough to pick up background noise easily. A pretty good value product!
