Adorable!
Adorable. Simple content. Simple and exquisite illustrations. Together the words & pictures capture the all-too-fleeting moments of a brief, passing, innocent & tender, precious interlude in toddlerhood. A time that about which parents & grandparents later find ourselves echoing, “ ‘wait! wait!’ We’re not ready for it to be gone so soon!”

A classic you’ll want to own.
Simple, beautiful, timeless. You’ll love reading his book over and over with your special tiny human.

Wait! Wait! by Hatsue Nakawaki and illustrated by Komako Sakai
The soft minimal , but delicate illustrations in only black, white and ochre by Komako Sakai were perfect for the simple text. A child toddles after a butterfly, but it flies away. The same result is that each animal the child encounters-- a lizard, a dove, a cat--escapes quickly. But when father catches up to his child, he scoops him up so quickly that the surprised child does not run away, but is carried piggyback style on Dad's shoulders!Gretchen Hansen

A family Favorite
This is a beautiful book that very much depicts the life of an 18 month old; running after ever animal in the park and wanting them to wait, but them running away. My kids all have loved the soothing simplicity and rhythm of this book at 18 months of age. It has been a favorite for all 4 of my kids.

Simple and enchanting
In addition to the other accurate and descriptive review of this book, I would like to say that my 17 month old absolutely adores this book. The illustrations are realistic enough that she can tell what the animals are.
