ONE WAY MIDI at a time, no handshake!!!
I'm rating it as "okay" for the time being, I have queries out to support for this and an app called "Remote" used to add a 2nd display to the Korg Kronos keyboard synth, and the "problem" is the app won't sync up with the Puc+. I'm told by Zivix support that this device doesn't support 2-way MIDI or a "handshake" required by the app. THAT is a HUGE drawback, while I found it does send MIDI data both ways, it just can't do a handshake. Very odd, and perhaps something that can be fixed with an update, but at this point for my purpose, it simply doesn't work. You CAN drive sound apps with it, a one-way MIDI communication, so if that's all you need it for, it works, but unless you're going to drive a number of things from your 5-pin MIDI ports, one of those devices that plug in is a cheaper, better option requiring no batteries. I'm getting the Yamaha MD-BT01 to see if it will work through a MIDI patch bay, otherwise it clogs my Kronos MIDI i/o, so the USB device like the Puc+ would be preferred, but if it doesn't work... I'll wait until the last minute to return it, waiting on support to see if they solve this problem on one-way MIDI data flow. Fingers crossed.Update, after contacting the developers of the Puc+ and the Kronos Remote app, we determined the device simply won't do what's require to function properly. So, I'm returning it. Without that MIDI "handshake" it simply won't work. I hope they fix this in the future, and when they do, I'll probably buy it again, but for now, it's basically useless to me, so back it goes...

Nice idea, mixed execution, unclear documentation
This is the second such device from this company. There's an app that is needed to connect and configure it. The app immediately prompted me to update the device firmware. This failed, but I restored functionality of the device after resetting the PUC+ and restarting the app. The firmware updater seems to be incompatible with some versions of iOS. I confirmed this with Zivix support. The firmware update is intended, at least in part, to fix a bug related to powering down the PUC+. I had to remove the batteries to power it down. The MIDI port seems to work fine for MIDI output, my case of interest. However, the USB port (which I greatly preferred) is more limited in functionality, and the documentation doesn't make it clear what is supported. If my testing is representative (using the Expert Sleepers FH-1), the device will not output MIDI data to a USB device that is configured in USB host mode, and will not establish a valid connection with such a device.

I was considering the EWI-5000 or 4000s but this basically let's me use the same or better quality sounds and I can keep my soun
I use this with my iPod Touch (6G) and my EWI USB. I was considering the EWI-5000 or 4000s but this basically let's me use the same or better quality sounds and I can keep my sound generator (iPod or iPad) far away from where I am standing. I use this in live performances and it is really pretty cool. I became the bass player for my group by accident :-) using iFretless and the PUC+. Pretty neat.I would have given a higher rating if the documentation about MIDI and power/battery life was more complete.

The people at Zivix are trustworthy, honest and reliable.
The people at Zivix are the best. They are trustworthy, honest and reliable. I ordered a puc+ because of the Bluetooth midi feature. I was so excited to get but my model had an power/connection firmware issue. So I contacted their tech support and they quickly got back to me. It took a couple pleasant emails back and forth to resolve the issue but to say the least they are top notch. I received a replacement puc+ and it's working beautifully. The latency is so minimal you don't notice any delay when playing your midi controller. This product is awesome. I give it five stars because of the company's tech support and the product really works.

funky little device that does what it says
i wish the usb port was more standardized, i don't really have many midi usb devices with this connector on the other end, as they mainly plug into desktops. but other than that it's a great little device. I'm using mine via midi cable, response is pretty instantaneous going through bluetooth coreaudio. mainstage works like a dream.

Great Bluetooth MIDI interface!!!
I love this unit and it works flawlessly. I run this from a small midi keyboard and stream the blue tooth to my iphone where I have soft synths. From there I run the iPhone out into a DI box and run that to the PA. A very portable and easy to use solution that doesn't get in the way of my normal gear. I've run into no issues with this live ever....the Puc + does exactly what I need/want it to do. AWESOME little unit

Update the firmware via the app
5 stars because it works for the basic function I need: wirelessly using a MIDI keyboard with my iOS apps. I don't have any particular need of any esoteric features or MIDI support. The manual could be a lot better. You need to download their app to get it going, and I needed a firmware update before it would respond to being turned off. But after that hiccup it's been smooth sailing.

Latency is NOT a problem!
My biggest concern was not being able to enjoy the sounds I bought because of latency issues, which is common when using MIDI devices in live situations. Don’t worry about it, you won’t hear any latency! I’m super surprised that this wasn’t an issue at all. Buy it!
