quality hardware, customer service went above & beyond
I bought this to go with my Nikon P1000. The P1000 is extremely front-heavy and needs support under the lens to avoid stressing the mounting hole. Arca-Swiss plates are popular for this. You get one that is long enough to span the distance from the mounting hole to just under the focus ring, and place a shim between them under the lens. The only problem I had was that the P1000's mounting hole is too shallow for the screw that came with the Wimberley mounting plate. I contacted Wimberley and they sent me their AP-1000 adapter kit, which comes with the correct size screw and a 3d-printed shim which sits between the Arca plate and the lens. If you want just the screw, you can order their SS-100 (spotting scope screw). I also placed some shim washers between the mounting plate and the screw head, just to make sure the screw wasn't bottoming out.Another note, the P-50 plate was actually longer than needed for the P1000, so it sticks out from the back of the camera a bit. I'm told they usually recommend their P-35 plate instead.

Perfect fit, great value
I just took delivery of the new Sony 200-600mm lens and needed a Arca Swiss mounting plate for my tripod ball head. Wasn't sure what the lens foot mounting configuration would be so I delayed order a plate until the lens arrived. Now that both pieces are here, I can report the Wimberley lens plate for Arca Swiss includes all the mounting options for the Sony lens. It also includes smaller screws to prevent the lens from slipping off the ball head and two additional screws for ball head options that are not designed to prevent the lens from twisting on the head mount.Wimberly instructions are complete and easy to read. Materials and construction are excellent. When you pay $2,000 for a lens, it doesn't make sense to skimp on the quality of the plate that mounts to your tripod. This Wimberly plate meets all of my expectations for a high quality lens mounting system.

Great product
Its a Wimberley product. That kind of says it all. Same excellent quality as everything else I have from them. I purchased this plate to replace a P-20 on my Sony 70-400 G II mounted to a a99ii. I also purchased a Wimberley Sidemount WH-200-S (NOT the same as the Sidekick) and wasn't sure that the P-20 would have adequate length to balance the lens + a a99ii with the battery grip. As it turns out, it was possible to balance the setup with the P-20, but just barely. The longer lens plate made it much easier and is more flexible. The longer plate also makes it easier to mount the camera/lens on the Sidemount.Great workmanship. Great finish. Great materials. Its just a great product overall.Side note: $50+ for a lens plate may seem like a lot of money, but after spending the better half of a day surfing for an equivalent plate, the cheapest I could find that even came close was still $25-28. So, in theory, you might save $20-25. The question is whether saving $20-25 is worth it when your body/lens comes loose and lands on the rocks (or on the rocks at the bottom of a cliff or lake). Some (quite a few) plates don't have the little screws at each end. Some look like the coating is actually paint. My experiences with the cheap metals coming from China doesn't give me any warm fuzzies either. Dimensions can also be a problem since besides there being no real 'Arca' standard, the Chinese seem to have issues using rulers. There are all kinds of ways in which trying to save $20 can lead to a catastrophic mess, none of which I wasn't to experience. Want to save $20? Stay out of Starbucks for a week.

Excellent product, precise machining fits my Wimberley WH-200 gimbal ...
Excellent product, precise machining fits my Wimberley WH-200 gimbal mount without problems as I would expect it should being fabricated by the same manufacturer. Only complaint with this lens plate...COST...$50 plus is pretty expensive for a piece of aluminum 1 1/2"x 5 1/2" & a couple of screws. A better deal if you can find a used one for sale; but I wasn't fortunate enough to find one, so I had to purchase a new one. Even with the cost, I would still buy Wimberley over a secondary market unit.

Get a quality plate for big, expensive lens
I've only had it a short while, so time will tell. The build and material quality appears to be excellent, and so far it has held up very well under a big, heavy lens. Two bolts are definitely better than one, and the tripod foot for my lens supports two, so this was the plate to go with, and it's just not going to twist out of alignment. No problems with the fit or stability into my QR, although now I feel like I need a better QR.It's really not too high a price if you consider what you are trusting it do - you don't want the manufacturer to take short cuts to get the cost down a few bucks.

Great Wimberley quality at a fair price
Ordered this plate for my Sigma 150-600mm Contemporary Lens because the factory lens collar/foot was pathetically small and I was not able to adequately balance the camera/lens on my tripod. Even attached to my Nikon D500 w/battery grip, the entire set-up was lens heavy. This Wimberley plate was the perfect length enabling me to move the camera/lens combination to the rear of the ball head changing the center of gravity and creating a much more balanced set-up. The plate is constructed out of high quality alloy and works and looks great. I also like the fact that it comes with two screws that can be inserted into the front and rear of the plate, and act as safety stops preventing the plate from sliding out of the ball head if it came loose for some reason. I found it to be priced fairly compared to other makes/models and would buy it again. I highly recommend it!
