For Guitar Players Only

A true bible for guitarists.
I love this book. Great anecdotes from one of the most successful studio guitarists in what was considered by many to be the heyday of the LA session scene. And great advice with practical and very useful exercises. It's all there. If you don't know Tommy then you must dig into this.

The Wrecking Crew Brought Me Here - Excellent Resource from a Master
Tommy Tedesco was one of the most sought-after session musicians back in the day and I was thrilled to see this book available. This is a must-have and unique approach to music theory that will benefit both the student and the advanced player. Tommy imparts shortcuts, tips, and helpful hints. The Sightreading Section was very useful and a mandatory skill set for session work. The Studio Session was enlightening from his experience especially his involvement with film and television.Even if you've read or studied other music theory or guitar player resources, buy this book and learn from the best.

Great, One Of A Kind
Tommy Tedesco covers everything, but not chord melody playing, if that's what you're looking for. Gets into those places that are missing from other books. Also, his exploits on gigs are hysterically funny.

Required reading for professional guitarists
Awesome little book. It's not really a method book by traditional standards, but more like a lesson with Tommy Tedesco himself. Lots of great tips on reading, studio gigs of all types, and guitar playing in general.

Timeless Wisdom with Humor Added
This book is a great insight into a skill that is often neglected. Tommy Tedesco was a God in the studios and this book shows us many of his methods. Highly recommended!

It's Tommy - No Apologies, and Telling it like it Is
Tommy was a colorful character, and in this book, he attempts to give you the real story (as much as a man like him might be able to, given the constraints of the medium, and the breadth of his career) on being a Studio Musician, or even a better musician. His passion comes through, but he doesn't attempt to make it perfect. It's almost as if he were talking to you, teaching you one minute, and regaling you with stories and anecdotes the next. It's very "stream of consciousness" and without apology.Do not look at or expect this to be a teaching method in the truest sense of the word. Rather see it as a glimpse of what it might have been like to sit at the feet of a man who had a lot to teach you, but didn't have all the time in the world to do so. One thing that is very clear, is what you see is what you get with Tommy. No punches pulled, and if you approach it with respect of what he became, and look at it as the words of a man, a mentor, opinionated, wrong at times, and human....you can walk away with some very valuable lessons. The exercises themselves will challenge most people, but the book as a whole, is a gem.

Great Book
I have to agree with what Joe Pass said about the book. It answers all the questions a Stuido Guitarist needs to know and more.

Anatomy of a guitar player
As one of the best guitarists and studio players around Tommy describes what it takes to be a great player and adds some humour to the mix. An excellent section of exercises and theory.

Essential guitarist material.
I bought this book after seeing it mentioned in a couple of articles. Not expecting the world, just maybe a few good sight reading exercises.Wow! I have been blown away. Just practical and applicable information in this book. I would have bought the book alone for his annotations as they provide a funny and interesting read. The exercises are FANTASTIC and easy to fit into your practise routine.Just buy the book and enjoy. Don't be a type 3 guitarist :)

Sehr trocken
Von der Aufmachung irgendwie sehr old school. Man merkt, dieses Buch ist schon älter. Übungen und Übungen und ... Wirkt etwas lieblos, nur so die nackten Fakten. Würde man heute sicher interessanter gestalten.

Tommy Tedesco - For Guitar Players Only
Tedesco was the first call studio guitarist for many decades and was undeniably the most recorded guitarist in history. This book provides a huge amount of information for the fledgling studio guitarist in a straight-talking "shoot-from-the-hip" style. However it is not a dry instructional book and is doused with many anecdotes of Tedescos life as a top gun many of which are taken from his other book "Tommy Tedesco - Confessions of a Guitar Player".
