Buddha's Little Finger

Am i Creating what i see or am i just a vessel?
It was my pleasure to see that they have translated one of the best books that Russian literature has ever given to its readers. Written during a very dark and unstable time, this has to be the most influential of the books by Victor Pelevin. If you like philosophy and spirituality, especially in the likes of Alan Watts, Ram Dass and Joseph Campbell, you will like this book. It is an exploration of who we are and what we think of the world around us.I absolutely wish everyone could read it in the Russian original, because it is such a trip. Pelevin paints the story for you using his wicked power of bending and moving words and phrases in such a way, that i think in the future his works will be standing next to Dostoyevskiy and Tolstoy without having to explain how they got there. I have been through many Russian writers who pretend to be the new Carlos Castaneda, none of them come close to Pelevin's truthful jumps into human consciousness and illusory nature of the things we see. 100% recommended.

Buddha's Little Finger Takes the Classic Russian Novel to New Heights
This wonderful book is a curious blending of Eastern Mysticism and the more progressive precepts of the 1917 Russian revolution. It goes off occasionally on uncertain flights of fantasy that makes you wonder where they are and where you are in relationship to it all. And some of these flights are hilarious. The narrative goes back and forth between the1917 revolution, layers of mysticism, and the present day facilities of a Russian mental institute. You're never quite sure what's a dream and what's reality; nor can you ever be sure whether what's happening is a drug-induced trip or serious depictions of levels of mysticism. It's just a lot of fun to drift away and let it absorb you.

My absolute favorite novel
I have bought and lent out this book 4 times. And I am buying it again. I have read all of Pelevin's novels, and BLF is the true pinnacle of his work (so far). I am not saying it will change your life, but it will leave a lasting impression.

Must read
This is my most favorite of Pelevin's works. I read it in Russian of course, but English translation is excellent as well and I love giving this book as a gift to my fellow American friends because it describes "my" Russia in the best possible manner.

One of the best novels from the author.
I like Pelevin's book in general, but this one is especially good. You dive into Russian revolution of 1917 and can't stop reading it.

Amazing.
Fantastic book. I love all Pelevin's work but this is his best as far as I am concerned. Deeply profound and mystical yet gritty and down to earth, a rare blend and highly enjoyable.

Read more than once!
This book starts a little slow but builds into a metaphysical head blower... One of the very few books I have read more than once. Especially interesting if you are a non-russian (like me) and interested in russian or other cultures.
