Be safe read the instructions!!
Don't be like me (and others that have done the same) and slice your finger. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!!! The blade does not need to be twisted in place. The portion of the blade that you put inside the motor does not click or anything to indicate that it is properly seated. Just read the instructions.Other than that it's a great price and a very powerful food processor. I think the people that are breaking theirs or complaining that it stopped working are probably trying to slice up things that are NOT meant to go in a food processor. It's small, compact and does it's job perfectly! And as far as food processors go this thing is a breeze to clean... comparatively.

I love, love
Wow, my new fav kitchen gadget. I have used Cuisinart mini choppers and the hand pull choppers too. This far exceeds them. The plastic bowls of the pull string kind would crack or the string would get bungled and it would then become unusable. I just bought this one and used it. I love, love, love the glass bowl. So easy to rinse and wash; esp between different foods - I love the way the blade sits in the bowl without the lid; you then put the food and place the top and press the buttons. Works quietly and fast. I love the seal around the top. I often chop a can of tomaotes or something liquidy and with the other mentioned choppers liquid would leak out.... big mess. This prevents that and it was not hard to remove... just the right seal imo. I would def buy this for a gift and for myself again if ever needed.

Burned out the motor, bought another one
We're a hummus, tzatziki, and pimiento cheese eating household, so when I saw this newly released on Amazon I jumped on it. A month later it self-destructed (stalled, grinding/slipping gear noise, actual *smoke* wafting from the motor housing). I bought another one.The chopper has to be coddled:- Big chunks won't chop efficiently. My pimiento cheese recipe calls for an eight ounce brick of cheddar, and I cut that into half-inch chunks before putting it in the chopper. For tzatziki the cucumber gets cored, and then cut into quarters. I have managed to get it to chop bigger pieces, but it's not worth the time you spend scraping stuff down (see second item).- You have to scrape stuff down. The above-mentioned cheese chunks get put in the bowl with two ounces of cream cheese, and two ounces of mayo. The resulting mash really likes sticking to the clear plastic shield/lid of the chopper, or to the side of the bowl above the blades. So, after about ten seconds of processing I open the bowl and scrape the chunks back down (takes about four iterations before the cheese is chopped enough to stay put at the bottom of the bowl). The cukes have a similar problem, and so would any wet-ish vegetable. If you don't scrape stuff down you get far too many big chunks that have only touched the blade once or twice.- You can't process tiny amounts. Some of the recipes in the included pamphlet call for chopping one clove of garlic. Forget it. The tips of the blades are about a quarter-inch away from the inside of the glass bowl, and the clove will get cut into roughly eight pieces, all of which will then stick to the sides. (See photo for how the blades look in the bowl). If you're making something with a pure liquid like lemon juice, you might be able to work around this by putting the garlic in with the juice, and tilting the chopper to immerse the clove, but it's a lot less tedious to just use a garlic press right into the bowl.- You can't process huge amounts either. Three cups is about max for pastes, less for liquids.- You can't process for more than about thirty seconds at a time. If you hold down one of the buttons the machine will process continuously, but the motor gets hot, and needs to rest and cool down (which is fine, since you're going to be scraping the sides down anyway).- The "safety" feature is just a cutoff in the blade assembly that keeps it from rotating unless the blade shaft is being pressed down. Putting the entire chopper together will do that, but if you leave the shield off the blades will move anyway, and, if you were so inclined, you could get the blades to rotate by just pressing up on the bottom of the shaft with your hand (DO NOT try this at home).- Not a coddle issue, but, while the bowls and lids look just like the Pyrex four-cup equivalents, they are B&D branded and apparently made in China. :-(So, why am I buying another one? Because the bowls, blade, shield, and gasket, basically everything that touches the food, can go right in the dishwasher, and the bowls come with lids and can go right in the fridge. Also, I vastly prefer processing food in glass (though of course the blade assembly has a plastic shaft, but at least it's not polycarbonate). I sincerely hope Black & Decker will continue this line with a bigger bowl and a more powerful motor. For now, this is filling the spot in my batterie de kitchenette between the immersion blender and the mandoline, and it will stay there.(Update - some people seem to be having trouble with the lid getting stuck on. It does do that sometimes, but it's easy enough to pry it up with a spoon.)-----------------------------------Pimiento cheese recipe: eight ounce brick of supermarket cheddar (chunked), two ounces of cream cheese, two ounces of mayo, teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce, shake of paprika, shake of cayenne (to taste), four whole pimiento peppers (from the jar). Process everything but the pimientos until smooth. Add the pimientos and pulse a few times until they shred.Tzatziki: Two regular cucumbers (seeded and peeled, cut into quarters), clove of garlic (pressed), juice of a half a large lemon (or a very small one), two cups of Greek yogurt, salt to taste. Pulse the cukes, lemon juice, and pressed garlic until it looks grated, Take the lid off the chopper and mix in yogurt and salt by hand (don't process the yogurt, or you will have delicious cucumber soup).

This mini food processor is awesome!
The food processor makes about 1.5 cups at a time. It chopped evenly and only occasionally left a slightly larger chunk. It does chop smaller than I usually do by hand but it's totally fine for anything I do. It does not turn it to mush. I was amazed it worked on celery without leaving strings. Soft veggies like green pepper were great. Tough stuff like onions were great. The motor turns on by pushing the piston down. If doing multiple batches you must watch that pieces are not in the way of the piston but that's not difficult. You just have to know to do it. I love the ease of use, that all pieces except the motor can go in the dishwasher AND that it actually works at this low price. Congrats Black and Decker!

glass better than plastic
I have another older black and deck food chopper that works fine but I wanted another. This one is lots better. Works very well. I love having two bowls to chop with. (and lids). I especially like that they're glass not plastic. Easy clean up. The size is perfect. Not too big or too small. Overall very happy! For me, a winner!!

Powerful Food Chopper
I had the previous version of this chopper for years. It was finally time to replace it. newer Black & Decker has upgrades that make it so easy to use. The previous one had a notch you had to line up before it would work, and sometimes it was difficult because of the amount of food I placed in the bowl. The new version has two sturdy glass bowls and the blades sit on the bottom. No more lining up. It holds a bit more than one cup and grinds the food fast. It also has two speeds.

A great chopper and great customer support from Black & Decker
The product is great. However, it was packed poorly, and one of the jars was broken when I opened the package. Since both that jars have the same dimension, it works. I hate to return items since I understand that the returned items will end up in landfills in most cases. Therefore, I contacted Black & Decker customer support and they agreed to send a replacement jar for the broken one.

Not thrilled
I was so excited for this to arrive and use. I was replacing a small similar chopper that is making a horrible loud noise but still works. After using this new chopper we have gone back to using the 19 year old noise maker:(It doesn't chop everything, regardless of how long you run it. We make salsa weekly. There is always a couple of tomatoes (size: half a roma tom) unchopped. Along with some large onion pieces.I would have returned it but after I tested it (empty) just to make sure it worked I threw away the packaging.

Very good
This works well, 2 speeds are useful and it is powerful enough to puree chicken for our cat with no teeth. The blades are a bit hard to clean. They are very sharp and the bottom blade is quite close to the foot that it stands on. This makes it difficult to clean that blade without cutting yourself. Obviously not a problem though if you have a dishwasher. Overall I'm very happy with it.

Is this right
Liked the fact that bowls were glass.Disliked the smell of something burning only after not even two mintues of blitzing.
