A beautifully written and illustrated biography!
I LOVE this book! My first grade class loved it too. It is an excellent picture book biography, and there are so many teaching points in it. It is beautifully and poetically written, and the illustrations are engaging and gorgeous. My students audibly gasped at several pages.

Information and imagination
This story along with the fun illustrations was captivating to my toddler after a trip to the natural history museum and aquarium in which he saw real scuba divers getting into the water. For weeks afterwards he was dressing up as a scuba diver and sliding around on the floor. The story is somewhat detailed for a tot but he still got a lot out of parts of the story and the illustrations.

THE Jacques Cousteau
A wonderful book for a wonderful human being. I like more 'story' like biographies rather than didactic ones because I think the littles get more out of it that way - this one is creative and beautiful and fun. Best age range 3-7.

Wonderful gift for my 5 year old grandnephew
Wonderful gift for my 5 year old grandnephew. He loves nature, inventing new or modifying existing objects. Since he was around 3 he identified needs or wants and figured out what to do so he had what he wanted. He is a true problem solver and innovator. We love reading this book over and over. Doing so reinforces his creative process and problem solving skills. Cannot thank you enough!

Great illustrations of early diving, well written for children.
My grandson has so many questions, especially about the ocean. Now he knows who Jacques Cousteau is. A bit of history.

This book is so beautiful. I bought it for my daughter
This book is so beautiful. I bought it for my daughter, and recently for the son of a friend, both about 3 years old. They get the general gist of the story, but the illustrations are the real reason for this book. Puybaret (who illustrated the recent popular edition of Puff the Magic Dragon) has created his trademark serene, beautiful paintings for this book. One of the pages opens out to create a depiction of a slice of the ocean from top to bottom (you have to turn the book sideways). There's so much detail to pour over, the children love it.

Brilliant - treat yourself and your children
This is a wonderful book and one which my 5 years thoroughly enjoyed. The ending is particularly relevant and poignant given the state of our planet today. Educate the next generation with wonderful stories of belief, talent, skill, hope and vision.

We all want to be Jacques Cousteau
All of these children books which tell real people storirs are amazing. This is a book that grows with a kid for sure. My little one is only one and at the moment he is absolutely amazed by the drawing. I bet that in a couple of years he will be amazed by the story and when asked what he would like to be as a grown up he will answer: Jacques Cousteau.I thinks it's important to share with our kids the stories of real heroes and this book makes it fun and easy.

For the curious kid
Wonderfully and poetically told story of the endlessly curious kid who became such an influental and important man.Bought this for a kid I think might have a lot of curiosity for mechanics AND the natural world, so I hope he will really enjoy it.

Manfish
Used this book with all Keystage 2 children. They loved the pictures and the language used to tell his story. The children have then gone on to write biographies themselves, in the style of 'Manfish.' We also used it to inspire drama activities in History!Would recommend this to all primary aged children.
