This map is fabulous. I have now bought 3 (various reasons), and I would buy more, but here are some of the issues:1) The size is funny. It can be hard to find a frame to match it. When you are looking to buy the map, you can keep in mind that you can easily cut off the bottom 3-4 inches if need be. The stuff at the bottom of the map is pretty useless. Ie. It says 'Visiting Australia?, to which, if you were, you would scratch off the box. It then reads underneath: "Tasmania is said to have the cleanest air in the world." Not exactly something which you need to be showing off to your family and friends. You have a bit less wiggle room on the left and right of the map - maybe 1 cm each side if you had to cut it in.2) Be VERY gentle unraveling the map, as any accidental scratches on my map came from the unraveling process, no matter how gently I tried.3) Easter Island and the Galapagos are not on the map. If you are going to anything fairly smallish in terms of islands, there's a pretty big chance it won't be on the map.What's really neat:1) Not every country has the exact same colour. The colours underneath the gold change throughout the map2) You don't have to scratch too hard to get the golf stuff off3) You could easily add in your own islands with a label maker and some basic paint/markers to make the islands

I bought this map for my girlfriend of two years because we plan on traveling the world via WOOF which is an organization responsible for offering a free place to live and free food in exchange for working on their farm during the day. They have farms almost everywhere. It seems to be a great way to travel.I'm 23 and she is 27; this trip was beginning to seem like a pipe dream which could never realistically come to fruition. After making passion love last night I gave her this anniversary gift early because I just couldn't control doing so. It brought us together. This product materialized a dream of ours into a distant reality instead of an idea we'd never follow through with. We are so excited to finish school and leave this crazy place for awhile.As with anything, you get out of something what you take from it-what you put in. If you need a scratch off map to track where you've been, this one is as high quality of a product as anyone could really ask for. I find that my money was well spent here.

I love this map! I have tediously scratched off all the countries I've visited and am now inspired to visit so many more. It looks great - very classy and not poster-y. I love the old fashioned look it has with the gold scratch-off material but how it's still modern and updated with the pop of color from the countries. It came in a hard tube all rolled up so it was protected and nothing got scratched off early. I just opened it and let the map sit upside down for about a day so it would lie flat. BE AWARE it is a weird size! You can't find a frame for it unless you're getting something custom. I wasn't about to spend over $100 for a frame just because I apparently can't read dimensions - so I purchased a stretched canvas that was slightly larger than the map and pinned it on to that. It actually looks really modern and I've gotten quite a few compliments on it. This is a great gift for a world traveler!

I was skeptical about this map at first (about the quality), but when the package arrived, I was surprised at thehigh quality of the map paper. Even the tube it came in is nice and I'm hesitant to throw it away.The map resembles laminated paper, is more tear resistant than normal paper and may evenbe water proof. (dont quote me on that)-some of the letters of the countries unscratched seem to be blurred or distorted, and some of the map seems to beunintentionally scratched (through packaging possibly). This is expected because the map is designed tobe easily scratched off, even with a finger nail. The lettering of the countries once scratched off is perfectI have a family of travelers and I first bought this map to gauge whether it would be a good christmas present for them.Like I said before I am very happy with this purchase and will be ordering 4 more soon.

To be honest I haven't opened mine so I can't make a comment on the map itself, but it comes in a very crappy tube and one of the two plastic caps covering the tube was broken when I received it yesterday (see picture attached). I was planning to give it to my friend as a gift and obviously I need to redo the wrapping before I give this out.It would be a three-star product for the first reason above.I eventually gave a two-star because I found out it was actually shipped out from China despite of what on the product page it says "Proudly made in the UK". Being realistic, I just don't believe this map was made in the UK and redistributed by Chinese resellers to the U.S. (Let me know if they do, I will apologize for my hasty assumption.) The country of origin is not marked anywhere on the package, either(Again feel free to let me know if it is marked on the map). I am being clear that I am totally fine with products made in China as long as the quality is assured, but I would prefer if it says "Proudly made in China" on the product page if that is the case.It can be a very nice map, but because of the flimsy package and the deceiving information on product page, I am giving a one star.I just saw some other one-star buyers made similar comments. I should have seen their comments earlier.

This is fun for travelers because it visually exposes the areas where you have traveled, and gives you a constant graphic reminder of where in the world you have been, and where in the world you have yet to explore. Similar to a lottery card, you scratch off the gold coating to see the country or state underneath. It is helpful to have a standard world map for reference as you are mapping out your journeys, because there are no dividing lines to tell you where one area ends and another one begins. Would like to see a scratch map developed with boundary lines etched on the coating and the physical geography printed underneath. That would cost more but would make the product more exciting than it already is.

I bought this colour map to match my room. The reviews haven’t done this product justice I think because it’s amazing and good quality! You don’t see the states and main cities until you scratch that country out which may be the only downside for some people but for how I’m doing my map it doesn’t affect me so it’s great. It came in a tube and it protected the map too! Super happy with the product thank you so much
