West BendCrazy Popper Machine Pops Up To 4-Quarts of Popcorn Using Hot Air, Black

Wore one out after three years of very heavy use. Bought the exact same model again because it works so well. No mess with air pop. No cleanup. Makes big batch. Leaves 0 to 3 kernels not popped is all. The outside of the body does not get too hot to touch, even after popping full batch. The plastic cover is pretty hot and uncomfortable to touch right after popping full batch. Will buy again if I wear this one out.

I'm not sure why this had such bad reviews. It came, I followed the directions, it pops corn perfectly - light and fluffy, few dud kernels. It is everything I wanted in an air-popper. It replaced a 20-year-old Wear-Ever that finally failed. I hope to get as much life from this one. It works best when you have a full 1/4 cup measure (use the butter melt tray), nothing in the chamber but kernels, don't let it run too long. In other words, follow the directions. I am very glad to have the on/off switch.

Pro: Maybe 1 - 3 kernels end up popping from the bowl instead of the popper. This is a pro because other poppers I tried ended up with more kernels popping from the bowl. When popping from the bowl, popcorn fly's everywhere making a mess.Con: Not the most powerful fan so do not fill up with more than the recommended 4oz. of kernels. Just a little amount more than 4oz. will be too heavy for the fan to circulate the kernels and the kernels at the bottom will begin to burn so don't leave this or any popper unattended.

Easy to use. The cord storage could be a bit larger but the pop corn came out well popped and delicious

LET THE BUYER BEWARE --- A friend bought one of these and I liked it so much I ordered one for myself. She paid around $50 and needless to say I was overjoyed to find this one for $25.I opted for free shipping. I had ordered several things all of which qualified. My order sat in a computer somewhere for 2 weeks before they decided they had punished me enough for making them ship the order for free. But eventually it arrived. I opened the package, got my popcorn kernals and began making popcorn. I became slightly alarmed when the odor of burnt popcorn kernals began to taint the living room air. I shut it down and when my friend came over that afternoon she looked at it and pointed out that my popper had the hot air coming in through a 1 1/2 inch hole in the bottom of the popping chamber. Hers differed in that the hot air entered the popping chamber from where the vertical sides met the flat bottom. Hers was configured so that the air circulated the kernals in a swirl like a little tornado. There was no way a kernal could hide from that tornado. So, everything got mixed up and evenly toasted. In mine the popcorn along that edge tended to sit there because the air was blowing straight up past it. Therefore there was no swirling action.When I ordered I had no idea they might look the same yet differ in how they popped the popcorn. I immediately boxed it back up and returned it. I really don't like returning items. Amazon is trying to make money running a business and I know how hard that can be. However, their business plan has put us (the customers) to work in quality control and if we don't return the failed items we're not doing our job.If the packaging somehow indicated they had redesigned the popping chamber to make it more efficient I would rate it higher but simply saying nothing gets them the lowest I can give them.The model that swirls the kernals is great and I would give it a 4 or 5 stars. I'd have to use it for a while to see exactly what score it deserved.So...... WATCH OUT!!! ...... You will either get a real good one or a real bad one. A prudent buyer would ask a few questions.

It works great, pops almost all the corn quickly but, the popcorn is chewy not crisp. It seems that the poppers that have the heat coming up from a center hole create chewy popcorn. I am looking for a unit that makes crispy popcorn, I had an old West Bend popper that did that. It had the hot air coming out of the sides of the heating area that created a whirlpool.

I have used a West Bend air popper for decades. The only reason I got a new one was because the plastic topwas cracked in an accident. The new one is even better than the old one. Thank you, so much, for a dependable product!!!

it overheats and nearly caused a fire. I sent it back. Dont buy this product

This worked twice for us. This time it started on fire.

Terrible. got one of these as a gift. within 3 uses it started smoking. got a replacement sent to my sister. again it broke down the same way. Will never buy it again. save your money

On the second round of popcorn the machine started smoking and we had to unplug it. The bottom was full of burned kernels. Very disappointing, we will be returning it.
