Excellent helmet for sub $100
This is a fantastic helmet. Lets keep in mind it is sub $100. The outer shell is a little lightweight, but the clear and very large screen makes up for any issues there. There is no on and off switch to remember to shut off as it is both solar and battery powered. It works perfectly for my mig welder even in bright sunlight. I will be buying another of these when my son learns to weld.

Excellent welding helmet
Excellent helmet, very fast darkening, with many controls. Good quality, lightweight, compared to my medieval fiberglass torture helmet. Glad i bought this one. Nice big viewing screen too. No more looking like a water heater with a window with my old helmet.

GREAT hood!
For the money, this hood is awesome, especially if you are just getting started in the field. I have been in school for the last 9 months and it still works GREAT! The lenses are easy to change and the automated shade works splendidly, still.GREAT PRODUCT!!

Great helmet!
The helmet large display is really worth it! I have used the helmet for home use and it has passed the test. I believe it can even work for industrial use.

DOES NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY!!!
THIS HOOD DOES NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY, DARKNESS ADJUSTMENT KNOB MOVES ON ITS OWN IT IS ENTIRELY TOO LOOSE, THIS IS IRRITATING WHEN YOUR EYES DEPEND ON SPECIFIC SHADE PER PROCESS (TIG ALUMINUM, FLUX CORE, STAINLESS ETC.)THE HEAD GEAR IS ALSO LOOSE AND LOOSENS UP DURING NORMAL USEIF THE RETURN WINDOW HAD NOT CLOSED THIS WOULD BE ON ITS WAY BACK, I WAITED UNTIL I BECAME ENRAGED, NEVER AGAIN.

Ok welding hood
Got this as a backup for my non-auto-darkening helmet. The auto-darkening works like its supposed to.You can change sensitivity and the delay for how long it stay dark after flash. There is a big knob for darkness level on the left side that moves to easy and is always changing when I'm just moving my body around. They should have left this with the inside settings like most pro rigs. The body is pretty thin plastic and the head mount is pretty cheap. I can tell by the type of plastic used that it will become brittle with time so I foresee duct-tape in its future. Also the head gear is custom mounted so standard replacement components won't work.I guess for home or infrequent use its probably ok but I do this for a living so I have relegated this hood for my kids use when ever they want to watch mommy working. Also I found out later could have bought this at Lowes (except for the Kobalt brand it looks exactly identical, flames, switches, head gear) for the same price.FYI (because someone asked): It doesn't work well for TIG (GTAW) but you really shouldn't be using an auto-darkening helmet for that anyway.

knob damage
Overall, I like this helmet very much. I used it for a couple of weeks in my welding class with excellent results. Then I think I bumped the shade control knob against something which caused the knob to come out. I couldn't get the knob to stay in so I could no longer adjust the shading. After this happened, the lense started flashing and would not always stay dark while welding. I haven't been able to find a source of replacement parts nor have I been able to repair the knob.

Rhino welding helmet
This helmet is great, It works perfect and the delay function comes in handy when dealing with hot puddles! I would recommend but need to say it is not approved for overhead.Update 10/31/12:Although the helmet works great for the price, the shade adjustment knob is held on with a tiny(I mean 1/16in) plastic post clip. Just thought I would let others that walk through those plastic flap dorways know!
