Because of Anya

Bought this for niece when she was 8/9. I loved this book when I was growing up, she as well loved this book. Great for kids with big hearts.

This is a wonderful and quick "must read". So many people suffer needlessly from feelings of embarrassment or fear of not being accepted because they have a condition that makes them different. Stories like "Because of Anya" remind us that acts of kindness and understanding can go far in helping another human being to cope with a difficult situation. I really loved this book.

Margaret Peterson Haddix has written a lot of books that 3-6th graders have read - "Among The Hidden", etc. This book, by virture of the popularity of her other books, will be read by so many kids. For that I'm so thankful! Raising awareness of alopecia areata and what it is AND what it isn't is wonderfully helpful among school aged kids.As a mom of a wonderful young lady with alopecia, this book was painful to read but oh-so necessary. I purchased books for our school libraries and now many students are aware of alopecia.

This is such a great book! I'm a little older for this book than I think would be recommended, but if anyone's a child or young adult, or if anyone takes care of a child or young adult, they should definitely read this book. It was amazing, and I'll more than likely read it, again, very soon.

Fantastic book. The characters are well developed and discussed in a way that my students are able to learn from the experiences the characters have. It is very powerful and well written. My students thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Good book for kids 12 and under. Strong female characters, good lessons learned. I got this for my 6 yo who reads at a 4th grade level, she loved it.

This book is a very good story. It is about a girl with a disease and her friends help her. It is awesome and touching. It was so good I read it in 40 minutes.

Even though I downloaded this book for Reading Class, I really really liked it. Maya is very inspiring. I have yet to find out why it is titled "Because of Anya" though.
