What a great time and money saver this little cap makes. Saves me the time of trying to cut an angle which exposes the heart of the post to destructive elements and wood eating creeper crawlers. Sturdy and rustically attractive post caps with which I am quite pleased. I built a cedar elevated planter bed that sits adjacent to a corrugated galvalume sided garage, and wanted to finish off and protect the 4x4 corner posts. The posts measure 3.75" and these caps sit on top, with some caulk to hold them on. They fit loose, but don't look oversized, and between their heft, and the caulk, they aren't going anywhere. Capitol City Lumber shipped them quickly, received them across the country to a rural area, one week after ordering, and they were packaged well.

These post caps do actually measure 4" across on the inside. We had wood posts custom milled so they are bigger than a standard 4x4 post and these caps fit perfectly.

These have no screw holes on the sides. They are heavy and would be perfect if they had screw holes for installation

These post caps are a nice heavy duty metal that will look great on my deck.

Worked for us, just as planned. We had 3 pendant lights to hang from a narrow 4 1/2" bulkhead and the standard lighting canopy are all to large we needed a canopy no more than 4" and that "Necessity is the mother of invention". We purchased these post cap, drilled a hole for the wiring and presto, we now have our pendant lights proudly hanging with our home made canopy. Works great, looks great.
