Good dry rub for smoking and grilling
I use this as a dry rub for chicken thighs and pork steaks. It has a good combination of flavour and the right level of heat. It works as both a grill rub and a rub for soming

I don't want to overstate this, but Gates' Hot N Spicy is the greatest thing ever created for anything by anyone
So, it turns out you can buy a magical powder to shake on your food to make it taste approximately 1,000 times better. (That is just an estimate, YMMV.)Apparently it only costs $10 per bottle (WELL IT USED TO! NOW IT'S $13!). That might seem reasonable, but if I were you I would find a local source for this crack-like substance. Also, you might want to give it as a gift to every human you know who enjoys added spice and a modicum (X1,000) of flavor added to their food.Do not use it to cook with. That would be foolish. You don't use EVOO in pasta water, do you? No, you don't. Don't be an idiot.Sprinkle the manna atop finished foods for enhanced taste and texture. Yes, texture. MSG is known for adding mouth feel, and this product has MSG.Then buy a bunch so the price goes down. Don't you dare buy them all, however, because I have not yet identified a local source.

Good stuff
This stuff is awesome. Mainly use it on chicken and the flavor is incredible. My dad lives in KC and everyone down there swears by Gates. Now I understand why. Kinda pricey, but well worth it

Great Seasoning and Rub for Whatever You Have In Mind... Ribs, Steaks, Chicken, Chops, Even Fish!
This is pretty tasty seasoning without being overpowering. I've done boneless country style pork as well as ribeye steak and it's pretty darn tasty. Actually I like this better than their BBQ sauce, which takes a bit of getting used to, but it's also good...just not as good as this seasoning rub. I've also used it on catfish, salmon, tilapia, chicken thighs and tenders. I really loved it on some pork chops grilled and brushed with butter.
