Kobato. Vol. 3

Love this series.

CLAMP manga are known to be very charming, witty, and overall great. Kobato is no exception. Though it does follow many of their tropes, they all feel brand new when the lovely main character starts with her innocent antics.

~* Very cute series. I love CLAMP! This is a simple romantic series and it helps if you had read the other series, "Wish" as there are some references from there in these series.*~

Kobato volume 3 contains chapters 18 to 25 plus an extra chapter, A day in the life of Ioryogi-san! (and translation notes)It is rated Teen due to language and violence (I'm looking at you Ioryogi!)Kobato is a clumsy girl who, with her talking stuffed dog, Ioryogi, are trying to heal people's hearts so she can fill up her bottle and have her wish granted. In volume 2 we found out that the kindergarten has money problems. It ended with Kobato on the phone to the loan shark.Volume 3 starts off with more threats from the loan shark :(There's another fight between Ioryogi and Ginsei. Ginsei asks why Ioryogi doesn't go back to his original form! This volume reveals a lot about Ioryogi but he still has a lot of secrets. Ioryogi wants more information about the loan shark and the kindergarten so he visits an old friend who turns out to be a bear called Genko that runs a baumkuchen shop and his underling Zuisho who is a delivery bird.The saddest part is when we see Kobato cry for the first time. She finds one of the men who came to collect money collapsed outside, she calls Fujimoto because she doesn't know what to do. They take him to hospital. Kobato worries so Fujimoto looks after her. This is the first time we have seen this side of Fujimoto and Kobato. Ioryogi also calms her down when she arrives back home.So many questions are answered in this volume but there is still a lot more left to find out. And at half way through the story (6 volumes in total), things are going to speed up a little soon.More reappearing CLAMP characters in this volume! Toya Kinomoto from Card Captor Sakura/Tsubasa Resevoir Chronicle, the main characters and the store from Gouhou Drug and Ushagi from Wish. Plus Ioryogi uses the entrance to the other world which is featured in xxxHolic and Gouhou Drug.CLAMP amazes me once again. The first volume was very cute and fluffy, the second volume was a bit darker but the third volume is a lot sadder. There are still a lot of "aww" moments and I don't think they are going to stop anytime soon. This is CLAMP after all.Before buying this book, make sure you have read the previous volumes or you won't understand the story otherwise.
