A very good and engaging read
I’ll admit that I felt a little doubtful with ‘She Got Me’ as it started, but by chapter 2, I was hooked. I was especially impressed with the story-telling device in the prologue: presenting a moment in the story out-of-context, and then returning to it later with the context developed. This is a very sophisticated writing technique, which I appreciated. Also, I was surprised to learn that Deja is not the MC, even though her name appears on the cover. (Interesting!) There are a few grammar and spelling issues, but these can be overlooked due to the story’s quality. I look forward to reading more books by Just Bae.

Awesome!
The story is very well written. It is descriptive and touches on some tough everyday topics (single parenting, depression in general, postpartum depression, etc.). Malik is an awesome man/character who does everything he possibly can for his young daughter. He also does everything possible to help Deja, but I don't really want to give too much away. Single fathers (and single parents in general) really deserve more credit, and the ending will make you yearn for more :-).

A fresh voice in the world of fiction!
She Got Me is an engaging novella about young love, marriage, and parenthood with relatable, realistically drawn characters. Just Bae uses an omniscient narrator here, and it works--we get to witness the thoughts of the main characters, male and female. It is refreshing to encounter a protagonist like Malik, and I wish we had more fiction like this, as African-American men are so often criminalized and maligned as fathers and husbands. Malik is a twenty-something urban African-American man who is employed, family-oriented, responsible, loving, thoughtful, and sensitive. The relationship he shares with his older brother DeShawn is touching and refreshing. Malik is in touch with his feelings--he cries if he needs to, he worries about his wife and daughter as well as his responsibilities to them. The pace of the story, and the dialogue, are good. It’s a brave piece of work that touches on depression and the impact that it has on individuals and their families. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!

Loved the main character
Malik is only 23 when life deals him an unexpected turn - a daughter. His struggle to deal with the situation and make a good life for his family is endearing. The story is easy to read and never flags. The love that Malik feels for his daughter, Jazzy, is palpable. There are some problems with story structure. It ends a little abruptly for my taste. The text could also benefit from a good copy edit.

Building Relationships and Steamy Love Sessions
A unique peek into the intimate world of some memorable characters. While not to add a spoiler I can say it is a feel good book that leaves one thinking about the author that wrote it - as we all put a little of our selves in our work. I enjoyed the emotion that was portrayed and the multifaceted layers of how each character intertwined with one another. It is a short read so you can do it in a day - and come back for more. Looking forward to future pieces by this author.

The writing style got me.
The way the story was written made it too awkward to enjoy. A few pronouns here and there would help the narrative flow better.

VERY GOOD
Deja and Malik meet at Malik's birthday party . Malik is 23 years old but a little awkward. Under his brother’s insistence he talks with Deja and after some banter they sleep together. The author makes a great job painting the struggles of two young people as they get ready for parenthood. There's no rose colored glasses and that's what makes the book great. It's a story about two people who weren't ready to be parents, with a dad who did everything he could.
