The smell!
This product worked and arrived as advertised. It took a long time to air out the chemical smell.

It saved the sofa bed, comfy, well-priced.
This replacement mattress saved a perfectly good sofa bed that is put away when I don't have guests.I read the reviews and initially had doubts whether I'd be happy with keeping the sofa bed and getting a replacement mattress for it. I had visions of opening up the box, being disappointed with the quality, re-compressing the mattress back into its box, and having to fuss with return arrangements. I spoke to a Amazon customer service rep on the phone first, who assured me that if I wasn't happy I could return it without being hassled about it, and the CSR also made sure to document our conversation "just in case".[If it wasn't for that assurance from a live person, I probably wouldn't have bought the mattress on-line and would have ended up at a bricks & morter store, wrestling with delivery arrangements, so THANK YOU Amazon for maintaining customer service and satisfaction assurance.)The moment I placed the new mattress on the sofa bed and tried it out, I KNEW it was staying put. I should have bought this product YEARS ago. I'm glad this brand worked out. Perfect fit. Well-priced among comparable considerations. I've had two summer visitors and both had positive remarks of comfort and vast improvement from the former innersprings. (To think I was almost going to get rid of the sofa bed because of its lousy former innerspring mattress. If I bought a replacement sleeper or a whole new guest bed set, it would have been a more costly proposition.)Initial smell? Very temporary and not nearly as strong as the initial smell of my own bed's TempurPedic mattress. Neither of my guests commented on any smell. (BTW...I spritzed it lightly with Bed Bath & Body Works Aromatherapy Lavender Sleep Tranquil Pillow Mist when I first got it, because of the other reviewers' comments about odor.) When I put away the sofa bed after my second visitor, I only noted whiffs of lavender and zero foam mattress smell. When the sleeper is converted back to a regular sofa, I do notice that the sofa cushions seemed 'cushy-er' and not as firm since it no longer has the former innersprings under the cushions, but that just makes the sofa more inviting = )There is no need to buy a special size (Short Queen or RV Queen) mattress pad, which are pretty costly. A regular queen size mattress pad works fine. I'm pleased with this purchase.

Everything is perfect, except the initial smell
I find it very comfortable. Definitely worth a 200$ upgrade from the stock folding mattress. This is more dense, but also softer. At the same time? Yes...it's more dense but the pressure is distributed much better and the layer of foam under the memory foam is pretty genius, so you get the contour with the comfort.I could go on and on about how it's better than my original. I actually slept with a 1 inch layer of memory foam on top of my old mattress, which is now on top of this one. So my comfort comments speak from that too.Still folds into my couch but it's a bit more of a struggle. No big deal though, just push a little harder and it's folded away.My only complaint really is the initial odor. It might not bug you, but it bothered me. Has a really strong "new fabric" smell. It doesn't smell like some nose burning poison, it's just kind of a thick awkward sweet smell that sort of smells like leftoverChinese food. And it's noticeable after you wake up, leave the room for a few, and come back.I just today left it outside for about 10 hours to try to get rid of it. I think it helped about 30%. I'll do this a couple more times, and I'm sure that scent will be gone.Just something to think about...lay it outside on some tarp in the sun. Bring it in at night to keep the bugs off, or get some circulation going in your room with the bed naked (no sheets) and let it air out.But otherwise, I'm 185 lbs, find it very comfortable, and even with the odor, I give it 5 stars for price, ease of installation, and comfort, because that kind of value out weighs the small hassle of this odor I'm pretty confident will go away with a bit of time and fresh air.

Not what I'd hoped for
Like other reviewers, I found this mattress to have inadequate support and continues to have that chemical/new foam smell nearly a month after purchase. Very disappointed as I thought this might make our queen sized sofa sleeper a reasonable guest bed. I'm only 120# and could still feel the bar in back when I tried as the only mattress layer. Instead, we used this mattress as a topper OVER our existing mattress. Unfortunately it is too thick to fold in with the other mattress in place. It has become an expensive mattress topper...

BUY THIS MATTRESS
After my daughter complained about sleeping on my pull out sofa, while visiting, I got on line and found this item. The price was great, I read the reviews and ordered it. It arrived in a very short time, and fit perfectly. I opened the box, as it comes rolled up, I unrolled it put it on my regular bed for the day and let it spring back to it's original form. It fit perfectly on the pull out sofa, and folded up without a hitch. What a difference this makes sleeping on, the pull out sofa is as comfortable as a regular bed. Why the sofa manufactures don't sell these as a standard item or option with a pull out sofa, is beyond reason, instead of some blow up air mattress that fit in a lining, I just saw some major problems with that, or the spring infested torture mattress that normal comes with these sofa's. If you have a pull out sofa, BUY this mattress. And despite the other reviews, there was no smell or foam odor from this mattress. 5 STARS for SURE !
