Pretty quilts, needs an errata
I got this from my public library, where I check into all quilt and baking books now before I buy. This book had more than one that I would make so I purchased it. There is some pretty stuff in here. But be cautious. The one I made did not list the border in the cutting directions. Then when I got to that final step I was out of fabric because I had recalculated all my geese to be a bit oversized and 4 at a time to square up later, as I do. I didn't realize there would be a border when prereading the pattern since it is not noticeable in the pictures and not in the cut directions. It is small but kind of necessary, otherwise you'd have a lot of seams on the edge prior to longarming. It was also one last chance to square it up.Afterward I recalculated the yardage requirements based on cutting directions to realize the author left the border out of that too. There would have been enough for border because of the way all pattern writers scale up yardage requirements and use so many WOF cuts. I haven't met a pattern designer yet that I haven't remathed the number of WOF cuts to be less wasteful for my own use. This quilt pictured that I did was definitely an intermediate to advanced quilt pattern because of the many points to match and the challenge of keeping it square as it progressed. I think it turned out beautiful but I doubt I'd do this pattern again as written. I'd paper piece those suckers to keep the perfection and squareness needed when there are over 200 of them.
