I had decided not to order this based on reviews. When speaking with my vet’s office a few days prior to the surgery, I asked their advice on what to use post surgery. They suggested one of the “onesie” shirts. I decided to place an order for this one and am so happy that I did! It is well made with soft, comfortable fabric. The fit is exactly as described, and the snaps placement is perfect and easy to use. After a couple of days, I removed the shirt to let the incision “get some air” and placed one of those donuts around her neck ( I had purchased it when I originally decided not to get the shirt). Woah! She went crazy trying to get it off….absolutely traumatized. I gave it a little while to see if she got used it but took it off her when she started crying. Put the shirt back on, and she immediately settled down and wanted to play. The material has not stretched out, has not ripped and her incision is protected from her attempts to get to it. Highly recommend this product. I have an 11 pound Havapoo and got a size Small. Excellent fit

A better alternative to the “cone of shame” for our dog after surgery! This "BellyGuard dog surgery recovery suit" worked exactly as we hoped for our young Malinois-mix female. We ordered Extra Large per the size-chart measurements, and the fit was just right. The fabric felt soft and breathable, and it was fairly easy to slide on and secure. Our dog seemed happy to wear it and quickly adapted to having it removed or put on again. It was well worth the money to keep her from messing with her stitches, and so much better for all of us than a massive, clunky cone. For outdoor breaks easier you must roll up the back when needed and secure it with the buttons designed into the suit. We forgot once and one time only, which is why I can confirm that the suit is machine washable. Overall, this recovery suit did the job we hoped for — it kept wounds protected, was comfortable for our dog, and was a much less stressful option compared to a traditional cone. A good choice for a more pleasant post-op experience for your best friend.

Fantastic product! Sped up healing and kept incision clean. Much nicer for dog than a cone. Easy to roll up and snap at neck for potty breaks. Bought 3 so could change every couple days and make it through to wash day. This snap design worked better than a Velcro one we also tried. Having double rows of snaps made it Possible to get the best length fit for our pup.

Edit: still great purchase but it’s day 7 and we’ve noticed it’s a tad short for him and it’s starting to irritate his scrotum area so we give him breaks from it and he seems happier. He does seem to lick his incision site but mainly because his scrotum is bothered I think. Keep this in mind for fit! Best fitting post surgical suit we could find for our male dogs body shape. He’s very long and lanky, not much fat on him, so sizing can be tricky. We got an XL and my only thought is that the neck is a bit snug but I’ve stretched it out and it’s starting to stretch with time. Using for post neuter surgery and it’s more comfortable for pup than the donut and cone, but he can still lick the fabric until it gets wet if we aren’t watching so if that’s the case we do pair with the donut. Our donut has a zippered cone attachment we can add if we need extra prevention but most of the time the ruff life suit is good enough as long as we’re keeping an eye on him from licking his incision. Overall, liked this much better than some of the others we tried mainly due to fit and that it covers the whole wound. When he needs to go pee or poop we just unbutton the pieces in the back and roll it up until he’s done, then we resnap it into place afterwards. Have washed it once and dried on medium heat, no noticeable shrinkage. Nice tshirt cotton material that’s breaths. Not too tight so pup is comfy but incision still has protection. Also super cute:) Would recommend! For references our pup is 11 months and weighs about 68-70lbs, Girth = 29/30” head= 20 Neck =18-19 Back waist = 24 Length = 28 Hope this helps some of you!

Well made, large enough front leg holes to not be binding, and easy to put on. The material is stretchy and very soft- like nice cotton pajamas. I ordered 3 different brands, and this one by far was the nicest, easiest, and most comfortable. I did have to safety pin the back by the rear leg or when she bent the back legs, the excess material got stuck over her thighs. My blue heeler is long and thin. So I ordered large to get one long enough even though she is 30 pounds. I possibly could have gone a size smaller, but her back length was 23.5 inches.

Alfie is a FB2 cavapoo & is 8 lbs. He was just neutered & I noticed he was trying to lick there. I bought this in hopes that it would be easy to put on him as well as protect his goodies or lack of thereof. LOL it fits him perfect, is soft, stretchy and putting it on was really simple. He isn't a fan of putting clothes on, or being still enough to put clothes on. You put their head through the neck first and then the front legs, which are large enough to where he doesn't even know that he's putting on a shirt. Then the snap part comes up through the legs, the snaps aren't hard to "snqp" so you're not sitting there long at all causing them to get anxious. Alfie is still a puppy so he hates sitting still for long. It has a big hole for the tail so it doesn't press on it at all. Theres multiple snap spots so you can fit it accordingly. He has been wearing it all day and hasn't tried to get out of it. It is not super tight but it is protective enough where he can't get to his incision. Being that is near his hiney it is a big plus. Other recovery suits that I've tried do not cover the area that I need protected. The decal on the back is a plus. So adorable. He still looks cute without looking like he's in a straight jacket LOL his measurements are: neck 7 in, back 11 in, and girth 10 in, 8 lbs. I got the size small. This fit him perfectly. I haven't taken him out yet but the instructions on how to snap it up out of the way looks easy enough. I don't have to take it all off just to put it back on again. If anyone is looking for a recovery suit I highly recommend this one.

It’s soft and easy to put on and stays on. It does help however, even though I measured him and bought a med as it says, it’s still a big & there is a lot of excess material on the back end bc he doesn’t have a tail

This worked really well as a recovery option after surgery. Much more comfortable than the cone and allowed my dog to move around, eat, and rest without constant frustration. It stayed in place and did a good job protecting the area, which gave me peace of mind. The material is soft and breathable, and it was easy to put on and take off. Definitely recommend if your pet hates the cone—this made the healing process much easier for both of us.
