Non-Religious Funeral Readings: Philosophy and Poetry for Secular Services

I was hoping to find some substantial passages that could be read at a non-religious funeral service or memorial -- or at a religious service where I have been asked to speak, but am unwilling to use religious language, yet do not want to give offense to the religious people present. (Such an etiquette problem.) But this little book just doesn't have the heft or substance to provide what I need. Many of the passages are only a sentence or two and are not suitable for a speaker's use at a service.

Not very long- I was surprised by the limited selection of reading. I was however able to find a beautiful reading for my grandmother's funeral in this short collection.

I really needed this after my boyfriend committed suicide. Him and I are both atheists. I am very grateful this book exists.

this little book was used by me today when i conducted my mums funeral it is a cheap little book with a powerful punch which i was able to use today i found it not just useful but of great comfort when i conducted a none religious service and if i am called to conduct another funeral i will use this little book im so glad i purchased it REVD PAUL BARKER ULC

Just what i needed to help with my new career.

Excellent readings - but not very many of them! If you take lots of funerals for intellectual people this will be worth it, but not so value-for-money otherwise.

Too many references to angels, heaven and the soul to be truly secular. Still, some good stuff for all that.
