It is age (8) appropriate, with the experiments.
We will have fun in the summer collecting things. It has a cheap microscope so we purchased a better one to look at our specimens but it does have a magnifying glass. It has some very good books with it with fun experiments and kids can learn a lot of science!

Very 90's cheap toy
I returned this kit. It was too cheap and cheesy. It felt like a toy set I would have gotten when I was a kid in 80s, so much so that it's possible it was actually produced back then and sat in a warehouse all this time.
