Great vent fan. Moves a lot of air.
We installed this in our 2012 Thor Majestic RV. We removed the existing vent and installed this Fantastic 1250 fan in its place over the rear bed. Wiring was easy because there was 12v power in the ceiling next to the vent that fed an overhead light. The light is not on a wall switch so there is constant power to the vent. All the hardware was included. Just needed to add some roof sealant between the vent and the roof and again on top of the screws. Works great. Additionally we installed a vent cover. Instead of the more expensive ones ($60 to $90) made for this vent, we used the regular Camco Vent cover ($35). We had previously installed 2 of these vent covers on the other 2 vents. Instead of drilling into the side of the vent like you normally would we just removed 4 of the vent screws holding it to the roof, used the provided L bracket that came with the vent cover and screwed it in place. Now all the vent covers are the same.

1st fan purchased had a noisy motor, but months later the 2nd purchase was perfect
Installation was straight forward, although I had to probe through the Styrofoam "block" insulation in the RV ceiling to reach 12 volt power, but that was to be expected. What wasn't expected was the noise created by the fan motor. I should have "bench tested" it before installation. An identical model I had purchased decades earlier and installed in an enclosed utility trailer was still working wonderfully without the loud whining noise of the new unit. The return window was still open, but the thoughts of removing and returning it were quite depressing. Instead I contacted the manufacturer (Dometic, in Elkhart IN) and upon emailing the proof & date of purchase from Amazon they instantly sent me a replacement motor. This was a phone call to them in the morning, and the replacement motor/fan assembly was shipped out that same day. This was a matter of 4 screws and dealing with 2 wires; much easier that total removal.Noise is gone, and it was refreshing to deal with a company that was quick to help me with my problem. I have a second vent that I want to replace, and Dometic's handling of my situation has made me decide to purchase another 1250 vent- But I will bench test it first! These are still made in the USA.Page 2; February 2020, ordered a second 1250 vent for the other location and this time tested it prior to doing anything else. This purchase was extremely quiet, and it was installed without any surprises. I noticed the motor in it was marked Dometic; as was the replacement motor they had sent me for the 1st power vent I had installed. The noise motor that came out was marked Atwood. Whether anything can be concluded from this, who knows. At least in this case two Dometic motors were fine while the Atwood made a whine similar to first gear in an old manual transmission.

Oh my...confirm roof thickness...read this!
I know this product. And what I received was wonderful. Quiet...quality...what I expected. BUT...I have a Mallard M28 Trailer. This was to replace a BS 3 inch fan that screams and does nothing. Same sized opening...that was fine. Wore myself out removing the old and prepping to install the new. But again...all good...the usual. Once installed and self leveling sealant applied it looked awesome outside. So I go inside. Guess what? The simple 4 screw trim panel won't fit. The roof on my trailer is over 1.5 inches thinner than the trim panel...so you can't install it as it is. And my roof has a dome...so higher at top near center than sides. So I had to trim off some of the trim panel so it would fit. Brittle plastic...enjoy that ride...but I got it done with a jigsaw and metal blade. But ugh! The product is awesome! No complaints. But I so wish I had measured the thickness of my roof before ordering. It's done. All good. And it's the same awesome Fantastic Fan I know and love. But whew...I'm so tired of challenges.

We can turn the fan on and crack a window on the other side of the RV and feel a good bit of breeze as the fan pulls air through
I'm very impressed with this unit. We had a typical cheap fan vent in the bathroom of our RV that barely moved any air at all. An afternoon on the roof swapping that out with this, and I can see what the hype is about. The fan is a bit noisy, but it draws a phenominal amount of air, even on it's lowest setting. We can turn the fan on and crack a window on the other side of the RV and feel a good bit of breeze as the fan pulls air through the opening. I can't wait to try it out on our trip next week.Installation was easy, just a bit time consuming getting the old fan off. the inside cowl was actually a bit too short for my needs, and left about 1/8" gap between the fan housing and the cowl. Not a deal-breaker, but have a plan for either calking that up or adding some kind of border to seal it up.4 stars. Get it. You won't be disappointed.

Great Customer Service - Great Product
I held off on buying one of these because of price, but finally made the leap. It is WAY better that the stock fan in the bathroom. Because of it's design, it moves a lot of air and can basically act like a whole house fan for your RV. I got the three speed reversible which I like.It is quiet too.The Fantastic-Vent customer service is great. The first trip out the screw that retains the knob that opens the vent lid backed out. As a result the knob rattled around loose long enough to strip the teeth. The only way I could open or close it was with a screw driver which ultimately screwed up the threads on that as well. I called and they shipped me a new lift arm assembly with a revised knob which is better quality. I got it a few days later before my next trip and it worked great! The lady I spoke with at Dometic knew exactly what I needed and was very nice.

Good quality
I bought a higher model toy hauler and I dont understand how they could have put such cheap vents in it. Within a year they had become brittle and cracked and the fan was cheap. I read reviews and Fan-Tastic Vent was one of the two top vents. I have just installed these so I can't say how they will hold up, but based on what I can see they are very good quality. The fans are far superior, sucking, blowing, and multi speed. They are also made of polycarbonate so they should be durable. I highly recommend replacing vents with these. After buying one vent fan, I also added an additional fan for the bedroom area of the 5th wheel..

I should have bought it years ago
Fan was easy to install. I got power from a light that was close by. Installed fan over the bed and it works incredible during the summer heat.

Good but slight buzzing sound
It's a good fan that moves enough air in or out of the vehicle. But it does make a fair amount of noise. Especially a loud buzzing noise which I'm not sure is normal or if it's just this one

For my trailer
Works very well in my trailer. A bit noisy but does cool the trailer even in the summer. you actually get use to the sound it makes.

Exactly what we ordered!
We bought this to replace a regular roof vent in an old camper we're renovating. My husband installed it in an afternoon and it works great! We like the tinted vent cover so much we're going to be looking for a couple more tinted vent covers for the other 2 vents in our camper!
