good product if you know what you're doing
the performance of this unit is very good for the price but there were absolutely no instructions. Even had to guess about the batteries and the polarity.. Box said 9 volt alkaline but it uses 1.5 volt button cells. the description said no drilling required. Wrong... if installed correctly you will have to do major drilling both the binding block and bridge as well as reshaping the bridge saddle to fit the pickup. this isn't a good unit for someone who doesn't know how to work with guitars otherwise the performance of this unit is very good. plenty of range on the tiny controls and plenty of drive even Overdrive if pushed. happy ovoverall

For the money, you seriously can't go wrong!
I put this in a mahogany Sigma guitar. I had it installed in about fifteen minutes, but it only took that long because I had to take a different soundhole pickup out. What I am saying is, it's easy to install. You will have to take the end pin/strap button out in order to install it, but the good news is the 1/4 inch jack that replaces your end pin is a normal sized strap button/jack combo so your strap will fit it. Also, you will want to A) take out your bridge and sand it down a little to keep your action the same, because the piezo element goes under the saddle (and you will have to drill a small hole through your bridge for the piezo's wire to run through. Put a drill bit in the handle from an xacto knife and go really slow if you're squeamish... The screws on the side are well fitted. Nothing rattles or moves. The whole unit is solid. Doesn't feel cheap.Sound: Well, it sounds electric. even with just the microphone. I was hoping for a sound more like a mic-ed acoustic, gut it just sounds electric. Way louder and more adjustable than say, the Dean Markley humbucker. Sounds pretty great with electric effects built into my Boss pedal and run through my Roland amp. Love the way it sounds when I play it slide in open tunings, but can't get that acoustic sound no matter what I try. So 4 stars. But in its price range: 5 stars, because I paid 15 bucks for this thing.By the way it runs on 2 2032 batteries (the instructions are no existent).

Reasonably satisfied with this pickup
Reasonably satisfied with this pickup, though I am only installing an utilizing the microphone pickup... Not planning to install or use the under the saddle pickup as I do not want to go through thinning the bone saddle the 1/8" it would require as I have it installed on a Vintage 70's Epiphone FT150 BARD with an adjustable bridge. That said, the sound I get with just the microphone pickup is adequate for my purposes.

Easy install if end pin hole on guitar already drilled out.
Affordable way to add microphone to existing bridge plate pickup. Installed on fender cp-6o parlor guitar. Good way to add preamp to passive piezo with bonus of mixing mic. Overall sounds good thru amp or P A system. Perfect for low volume situations such as acoustic open mic. I guess expensive name brand units might sound better, but I'm not spending $300. On a $200. Guitar to find out.

sound of a piezo pickup without the inconvenience of alot of drilling are the perfect way to go
Thumbs up for being convenient in the way that I do not have to drill large holes in my custom made Bajoquinto, soundhole preamps for those that want the sharp, loud, sound of a piezo pickup without the inconvenience of alot of drilling are the perfect way to go! however this one in particular is not clear nor sharp Ive had mine installed for about 4 days now Ive tried pretty much everything within my reach to get a clear sound but I guess the type of music one plays will determine whether or not one will like this pickup/preamp because this system has a natural drive to it. In its defense the MIC is actually pretty good you get a more natural sound with a nice amount of bass but it still has a bit of drive to it which is not bad it just wasn't for me overall 2 stars one for being convenient for me (soundhole, no glue or adhesives) and another for being one of the few if not the only system of its kind at least on amazon.
