Mon amie Anne Frank

I received my copy of this adaptation of Anne Frank this morning, and watched it this afternoon. One criticism I had was that it wasn't all factually correct. For example, this film has the Frank family arriving all together at the hiding place, when Miep and Margot had actually gone ahead of Anne and her parents, and it doesn't feature the other members of staff at all. Also, this version centres on the experiences of the members of the secret annexe in the concentration camps, and their time in hiding is barely touched upon. There's also a bizarre scene between a German soldier and a prisoner, a philosophy teacher, debating about morals, which I felt was irrelevant. I much preferred the BBC adaptation from 2008, starring Ellie Kendrick and Tamsin Greig,(which I have also reviewed) and was serialised in five parts, and is the best one to date. The BBC also produced an adaptation in 1987, which was also quite good, but the 2008 version is still the best one. If you're something of a collector of adaptations as I am, then this is a nice addition to have. I should also mention another version, a two parter featuring Ben 'Schindler's List' Kingsley as Otto Frank. This version is also reasonable, and balances out the time in hiding with what happened later, beyond that time. Memories of Anne Frank misses out on the five stars as there are better versions doing the rounds, but this one is okay.

Although not my favourite version of the Anne Frank story I really found this dvd very moving and it's well worth 5 points. The delivery service was perfect and they even enclosed a note thanking me for sending for it and hoping I would enjoy it which I certainly did. A great addition to my collection.

I loved this version of anne frank, shows her in the camps , its very graphic, I would recommend it to all anne frank fans.
